Remember Duke? We love sharing happy tails from our Lily's families!
This wonderful 10 year old boy came from a shelter after being left there by his former owners. Lucky for Duke, one of the volunteers worked hard to get him out of the shelter. We were glad to help and actually had an adopter looking for a dalmatian. So he came to Lily’s for one night and went off to his new home.
Very sadly, a few months later, Duke’s new dad called to say he had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and could no longer care for Duke.
And so, Duke came back to Lily’s and went to a wonderful foster home. He loved his foster mom but for some reason he didn’t like his foster dad, barked at him and then didn’t want him in the same room. They really cared about Duke and the hardships he had endured. In fact, they loved him, and wanted to adopt him. Patience and gentleness and a calm, tender approach can work wonders. As you can see, It all turned our beautifully. He now loves sleeping in his forever (former foster) dad’s lap.
