FEATURED PUP
Glory
This sweet ole gal has come such a long way since arriving at our Sanctuary. Glory is blossoming into a happy, healthy girl. She no longer needs help getting up. When she wakes from a nap, she slowly gets upright and heads for the door. She loves to meandering around sniffing, changing directions, but always moving. Once back in the barn, she checks to see if anyone is giving out treats, accepts a pat or two and then slowly circles down to rest.
We all love Glory and hope a special someone comes for her soon. [read more]
Please call us to meet Glory and learn more about her!

In collaboration with Senior Dog Rescues throughout the USA
Hello to our wonderful dog loving friends and faithful supporters,
Along with our Saving Senior Dogs Week 2020 rescues and sponsors crew, you have brought us HUGE smiles, just like Angel!
We are humbled by the support, love, and sharing we have received during our 2nd annual SAVING SENIOR DOGS WEEK campaign. Your passion, compassion, conviction, and joy about saving and enriching the lives of Senior dogs is inspiring!
November 1st ushered in National Adopt A Senior Pet Month! #adoptaseniorpetmonth
We chose the last week of October for Saving Senior Dogs Week in the hopes that it would provide impetus for people to adopt during National Adopt A Senior Pet Month. We look forward to the wonderful stories yet to be written for all of the beautiful Senior souls who need humans to love them, and who will love those humans right back, and then some!
We'll keep our Donately page for donations to the Saving Senior Dogs Week 2020 campaign active throughout the month of November for anyone who might still want to support our efforts. We’ll keep sharing all that's marvelous about Senior dogs!
Our deepest gratitude to each of you, from the bottom of our hearts and paws!!

We'll once again be partnering with senior dog rescue organizations from across the United States to present the second annual Saving Senior Dogs Week, a national campaign to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless senior dogs (with even more need in the time of Covid-19), all across the United States. We had a tremendous amount of support for last year’s campaign and we’re hoping to bring even more attention to this cause and to raise much needed funds for Senior Dog Rescues to continue to carry out their missions.
If you’re interested in becoming a partnering senior dog rescue, to become a sponsor of Saving Senior Dogs Week 2020 or to donate, contact Alice Mayn at [email protected] or call 707-787-7010. |

COVID19 has affected us all. At Lily's we are going out of our way to stay safe. We have reduced our volunteers to just 1 or 2 per shift. When walking our dogs we keep 6ft or more away from each other. Hand washing has always been important here at Lily's. During this time it has become obsessive. Hands are washed before & after handling each dog. Our kennels are kept meticulously clean. Floors and sidings are disinfected on a bi-daily basis. Bed sheets and blankets are regularly laundered and a disinfectant is added to each load. When the need arises for volunteers to share close quarters, face masks are worn.
Team Lily... we will get thru this. We understand the stress and financial strain this has put on everyone in Lilyland. As our dogs still have major expenses, we are asking you to give what you comfortably can. Our senior dogs count on the benevolence of those who believe in our vision and support our mission. Thank you!

Love Rescued Me - Our "Furever" sanctuary ensures that senior dogs will find a safe haven and the care and TLC they deserve - a warm and loving place to land on their way to their forever homes or to remain for the rest of their lives. Enjoy the video!
In the news...
We are excited that Lily's Legacy is introduced in the May issue of Golden Oldies Gazette as the newest program that Golden Retriever Senior Rescue is now supporting. We have been receiving each month a 20 pound box of Wagatha's Organic Biscuits. The pups love them. Later this year, we hope to be receiving a generous grant!

Vallejo couple thrilled with senior dogs
‘Lily’s Legacy’ gives hope to aging canines
It was roughly six years ago and Dan and Jan Miller had zero interest in welcoming a dog into their Vallejo home.
“I had gone years without wanting a dog. Our kids were in junior high school and we were busy doing stuff all the time,” Dan said. “We didn’t want to have a dog that would have to be boarded or in the home alone most of the time, so I resisted.” [Read more in the Vallejo Times-Herald]

Introducing The Otto Project
When Otto realized that his beloved dog, Lady, would outlive him, he made a plan for Lady’s care after he was gone. Because of this, Lady is now settled with her new, loving family. It is with great respect that we honor Otto’s final act of love for Lady by posting the link below.
We gratefully acknowledge the efforts of The Grey Muzzle Organization for providing informative guidelines to make it easier for everyone to to plan ahead. It is our hope that by offering these tools, you will be encouraged to craft a plan that will help ensure the well-being of your pet(s) upon your entering into hospice-care and/or your passing. We are confident this planning will bring you immeasurable peace of mind.

It is with the greatest respect and gratitude that Lily's Legacy would also like to acknowledge Bettina & Michael O'Brien. They are the pioneering adoptive family of “THE OTTO PROJECT". By taking Lady into their hearts and home, they turned Lady's transition from bewilderment and grief, into comfort and trust. The collaboration between Otto and the O'Brien's has provided a powerful inspiration for Lily’s Legacy.
Thank you for believing in our vision and for supporting our mission.

100 Sonoma People Who Care WinnerThe moment it was announced that Lily's Legacy had won $13,000 in a contest sponsored by 100 Sonoma People Who Care, Founder Alice Mayn, Board Member Allie McLanahan and the rest of the many Lily's Angels in attendance were overjoyed. As always, we are deeply grateful to all the friends/supporters of our beloved senior pups who made this dream a reality!
