A letter from Kassie's foster mom

A day in the life with Kassie has certainly changed since she came to live with me.

She has become confident and much more relaxed. In the beginning she was quite nervous, but shows no signs of that any longer.

She sleeps with me and is the best electric blanket I have ever had. She tends to think she should have the entire bed, which it seems I am the one to make the adjustments :) On the weekends she will stay in bed with me until I get up, which is nice as I  get up very early during the week.

Kassie...
  • loves to be outside and during the work week I leave my back door open (depending on rain) so she can go outside.  The little princess does not like the rain and eventually will go outside to take care of her business. She loves sun bathing.
  • loves going for walks and has two walks a day, around 30 minutes each. I have hired a dog walker two days a week as sometimes I just can’t get home at lunch. They LOVE her.
  • is a very, very smart dog and will be in my front window pretty much everyday when I get home, waiting. She gets very excited to see me.
  • is a very loving dog and just loves to be loved.
  • knows some commands, such as sit and stay. 
  • definitely aims to please.  ​
  • is very, very good on a leash.
  • is not very much into chasing balls, although several times we have tried and she will do it for maybe 3 or 4 times and then looses interest. She would rather play tag with me, which consists of running around with her trying to catch me (which isn’t hard to do).  She loves any kind of tug of war.
  • loves, loves riding in the car.
  • is great with kids. I have complete trust in her with my kids. I take her over to my daughters house and she gets excited when she knows we are going. My daughter has 3 children. Ages 5 ½, 3 and one month. Kassie is incredibly good with them. My granddaughter, age 3, will dress Kassie up, put blankets and pillows all over her, and whatever she does Kassie allows her to do. My 5 ½ loves to grab a toy and run through the house and have Kassie chase him. He loves to take her for walks, however I hold the leash.  I stayed with my daughter the 1st week she had my newest granddaughter to help her. Every time that baby cried Kassie came running and would just stare at the baby. 
  • is a great companion. She is extremely loyal and also very protective of our home. My friends love her and she gets very excited to see each and every one of them.
The dream people to be Kassie’s parents would be somebody who is home all day [or a lot] of the day. I am gone a lot Mon-Fri working and Kassie seems to adjust.

Kassie does have a sister who is my fospice dog. She gets along great with her, but Kassie is definitely the alpha.

It would be nice for Ms. Kassie to have some property to be able to run and exercise.

Kassie has completely changed from a fairly nervous dog to confident and strong. She has most certainly come out of her shell and no longer lives in that fear she had when she first came to my house.

This is one amazing pup!  Incredibly easy and sweet as pie!
