Hello to our wonderful dog loving friends and faithful supporters,
Thank you for your tremendous support of our Saving Senior Dogs Week 2023 ! We are humbled by the support, love, and sharing we received during our SAVING SENIOR DOGS WEEK campaign. Your passion, compassion, conviction, and joy about saving and enriching the lives of senior dogs is inspiring!
Saving Senior Dogs Week 2024 will be October 20th– October 26th
We are looking forward to another great week. We choose the last week of October for Saving Senior Dogs Week in the hopes that it will provide impetus for people to adopt during National Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November of each year. We look forward to the wonderful stories yet to be written for all of the beautiful senior souls who need humans to love them, and who will love those humans right back, and then some!
Our deepest gratitude to each of you, from the bottom of our hearts and paws!!

In October 2024, we'll be partnering with senior dog rescue organizations from across the United States to present the fourth annual Saving Senior Dogs Week, a national campaign to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless senior dogs, all across the United States. We’re hoping once again to bring even more attention to this cause and to raise much needed funds for senior dog rescues to continue to carry out their missions.
If you’re interested in becoming a partnering senior dog rescue or to become a sponsor of Saving Senior Dogs Week 2024, contact Alice Mayn at [email protected] or call 707-787-7010. |

Lily's Legacy in the News....
We would like to thank actress and film documentarian Jacqueline Piñol, creator and host of The Canine Condition podcast, for inviting Alice to be a guest on an episode about senior dogs. We invite you to listen to the 33 minute episode, "They're Not Senior Dogs, They're Vintage Dogs", as Jacqueline talks to Alice about Lily’s Legacy, Saving Senior Dogs Week, and the joys of adopting “Vintage Dogs”.

Lily’s Legacy Lifetime Care Program
Thank you for thinking ahead about the care of your dogs if you should be unable to do so.
The first thing we do to set up a dog with our Lifetime Care Program is meet the dog or dogs to do a behavior assessment. We do this to make sure he/she is a dog we can commit to bringing into our program should the time come. If it is not feasible for us to meet your dog, we try to arrange another way to do the
assessment. It is important that your dog gets along well with both people and other dogs?
Once we have determined that your dog is a fit for our program, we have you fill out our pet profile form for each dog. We ask that you set up a pet trust for your dog and fund it sufficiently with an amount that gives you "peace of mind” that all of their needs will be covered. We will send you a pet trust expense checklist to help you determine the how much would be appropriate to leave for your dog. At the end of the lifetime of your dog, if there is anything left in the trust, the remainder would be gifted to Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary so we can help more senior dogs and senior people.
We also ask that you make an annual gift in any amount to Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary to help build the security of the organization and ensure that we will be around if/when your dogs need us. Some people also choose to leave an additional unrestricted donation to Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary in their estate plan above and beyond the pet trust, which will help fortify our organization's future in carrying out our mission. This is all voluntary and not a requirement.
Please check with your attorney to set up a Pet Trust for your dog. Let me know if you have any questions. The first step would be to set up a time for us to meet your dogs and answer any questions.
Warm Regards,
Alice Mayn
