Ozzie

ADOPTION day! Right on schedule, Joan and John came to take their boy home. As soon as they walked in, an excited Ozzie came bounding over and gave them both kisses. He tried to get in one more round of fetch, but that didn't happen it was time to hit the road. Ozzie posed for a quick farewell picture and off they went!

Update......"Time for a nap after a good game of fetch. Ozzie is a hit.”

  BABY

Sweet BABY...(now Poppy) and her new Mom. Poppy was released to Lily’s by her guardian, who lost everything in the Camp Fire and was forced to move across the country. Lily's Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary was honored to be entrusted with mission of finding the perfect match for this sweet girl. On this crystal clear, bright, sunny day, Poppy clambered happily into her new Mom’s car, tail wagging all the way down the lane!  2019 is off to a good start!

Picture
LLOYD

A New Year's adoption!  Our beloved Lloyd got an early Christmas present when his new family came by to see him before leaving town for the holidays. Lloyd was super happy to see them, it was like he knew they were his new family. His canine sister was especially excited, lots of tail wagging and sniffing going on. What a great way to start the New Year for Lloyd and his new family - and for Lily's Angels too.  Another senior dog finds a loving home!

Picture

Picture
FOXY

Foxy's new mom Karen came down from Grass Valley to see this sweet, resilient pup. Didn't take long for Foxy to win her over. Karen adopted her on the spot and off they went. It certainly was bitter sweet to see Foxy go - she grew near and dear to our collective hearts - but we're over the moon she's found her forever home.

Picture
BOWIE

Howard and Sherril came to meet Bowie after falling for him on Facebook. One of our Lily's Angels brought Bowie with her for the home visit and to meet Alice - yep, that’s their other dog’s name! She's on the right in the photo. The two dogs were great together, they look like a yin and yang pair. Bowie is now named Bodie. Dad is retired and there’s lots of space to play with Alice in a fenced field and country lanes to go for long walks.

"Bodie had a great night. Slept right next to my side of the bed with my hand on him. Playful day today with Alice. Thanks again."

Picture
HONEY BEAR
At long last (4 ½ months) our sweet Honey Bear has been ADOPTED!!! Bob & Sheril recently decided it was time to find their new dog. It had been about a year since they lost their two beloved 14 year old fur-babies. While looking for a female senior, they came across Honey Bear on our website and came to meet her. Right from the start she gravitated to Bob & Sheril. Wheels were set in motion and an excited Bob & Sheril came to take their girl home. As you can see there were smiles all around, especially Honey Bear.

Update from Bob & Sheril: “Life is good!”

TOM
Miracles are a daily occurrence here at Lily's. Here's another one. Our sweet Tom recently had two tumors removed. Although getting good margins, the pathology showed the cancer to be an aggressive form. The miracle? Tom was adopted by the same family who adopted HONEY BEAR (above)! Thank you Bob & Sherral for taking Tom into your hearts & home for whatever time he has left. Honey Bear loved Tom from the moment he arrived at Lily's. Now she gets to be his sister & live the good life ! THIS is what Lily's is all about... not "how long", but HOW GREAT A LIFE!

OZZIE
Ozzie leaving Lily's with his new mom. And his joy of napping after full, fun days with his new family and forever home! THIS is what adoption looks like!

SHAWNA (now Gracie)
Previous adopters Jesse & Paula came to the Sanctuary looking to be rescued by another Lily’s dog. In 2016, they adopted Sophie, an adorable Aussie mix with beautiful piercing blue eyes. It was one of those love at first sight adoptions. Sadly, Sophie passed about 3 months ago. The plan was to come meet a few of our available dogs. Well, they didn’t even make it to the barn where our pups reside. When they drove down our driveway, Shawna was in the dog park and came running over to the fence to greet them. That was it, they took one look at her and said “She’s perfect!” and ADOPTED her on the spot. Her new name is Gracie. Shawna will be missed, especially her face kisses.

GIGI
From Linda, Gigi's new mom: "Gigi is settling in and seems to know she's at her forever home. 💕Gigi is just the sweetest girl! She's laying on her bed next to me in the Family Room and looks happy and very relaxed. We have discovered that she really likes her belly rubs!!!”

Picture
PANDA
A couple and their 18 month old daughter came to meet Panda. It went very well, Panda was great with the toddler. Home visit got two thumbs up and soon after a very excited Nicole came to take Panda home. We were thrilled to hear that Nicole will be bringing Panda to work with her every day at a dog friendly construction business AND he’ll be going on vacation with them to their lake house! Hurrah for Panda - he scored BIG TIME!

CHI CHI
Paws Crossed scores again…..Lily's volunteer Rachel adopted Chi Chi and renamed her Sophie. Lucky Sophie goes to work with Rachel every day at a very dog friendly workplace. Sophie LOVES the attention from the all the dog lover co-workers. Rachel’s landlords love Sophie too and she will be able to stay in their backyard when the need arises. Rachel and Sophie are truly a bonded pair that was meant to be. Don’t they look happy in their official adoption day photos?

Picture
GUS

Mary from Healdsburg had been looking for a companion for her 14 year-old yellow lab. They both have been feeling sad since their other dog passed away in April of 2018. Mary and Gus cuddled for a while and got to know each other. Didn’t take long before Mary knew Gus was the dog she’s been looking for.
Gus, Lily's Angels will all miss you but boy are you gonna love your new forever home and family. And they're gonna love you right back! I

Picture
BUDDY

Catherine & Andrew were escorted to the barn to meet our gang. When Andrew & Buddy made eye contact, there was no going back. Buddy instantly gravitated towards Andrew. Catherine was ok with the fact Buddy was going to be a guy's guy! They took him into our dog park where Buddy followed Andrew around the park.Explaining the stairs in their home, Andrew wanted to make sure Buddy could climb up to their bedroom for the night. Wondering if the extra weight Buddy [temporarily] carries might hinder him, Andrew PICKED UP Buddy and proceeds to walk with him! The fact that Andrew could lift Buddy was all we needed to give this couple two thumbs up! After the home visit, the couple came right back to our Sanctuary to pick up Buddy. When they left Lily's, Andrew SCOOPED UP Buddy and lifted him into the car. When home, it took about a nano-second for sweet Buddy to know he was HOME!!!

MAGGIE
Waggie
Maggie was only with us for a few days until a Sebastopol family adopted her.  Maggie was so excited to go home with her new family, her tail never stopped wagging. Maggie will also have a new brother Baxter, a 12 year old black Lab. We are so glad Maggie has landed in just the right place with a wonderful family!

Picture

GIZMO

Once again, keeping our paws crossed worked! Our boy Gizmo has found a home and it is perfect! First Mom came to meet Gizmo, she was smitten. Then Dad came to meet him and Gizzie responded to him right away. He quickly won him over with his charm and handsome good looks. They were especially impressed with how gently he took treats.  Didn’t take long before they knew Gizmo was their new dog. H

Picture
BRANDI

Brandi is the 15 year-old (unbelievable, but true!) yellow lab who came to us from a vet clinic in Tracy. She had been cared for at the clinic since her owner lost his home in November. While at Lily’s Brandi never slowed  down, she was always on the move, perhaps she was searching for her person. Well her searching is now over! Her new mom, Renee, also adopted Lily’s pup, Jack (see below), back in February. We are so happy that Brandi has finally found her forever home.

Picture

TOMMY (now Marshall)

Luci, her two sons and their dog Zoey came to meet Tommy. He was a huge hit with all of 'em! Tommy came bounding across the barn right up the boys and Luci. One of Luci's son blurted out, “Mom, you chose the right one!” They were all so excited that Tommy (now Marshall) was coming home with them.

This just in from Luci…. “Animal Harmony….All is going well, Marshall is really settling in at this point and getting used to how things work around here. He’s happy and so are we!”

"I’m still amazed that we were lucky enough that he picked us!  Thank you for connecting us with him ❤❤."

Clearly Marshall also gets along with cats :)
Picture

Picture
MAGGIE

Beautiful Maggie was owner surrendered when her dad had to move into a nursing home. Her picture and story generated a lot of interest from potential adopters. It took some time to find the best match for her, but find it we did. She went off to her forever home with Donna, Dennis and new brother Peanut. And the best part is that Donna is going to take Maggie to see her dad at the nursing home. It doesn’t get much sweeter than that! Maggie was only with us a short while, but in that time she stole many hearts. We’ll all miss this sweet girl!

Picture
CASEY

Casey is a 7- or 8-year-old Yellow Lab who was owner surrendered to a Yuba City shelter.  Cute Casey wasn’t with us for very long before she was adopted. Her new mom, Maggie works in the wine industry and plans to bring Casey with her to work.
Here's an update: “I wanted to give you a quick update and let you know that Casey is settling in well!! She loves the sofa and is already getting along with Young Frankenstein the cat. She got to hang out in the vineyard on Sunday and had lots of fun playing with my cousin’s dog Max. She wants to walk, run, and play all day! She’s happy at the office – we started the day with a mini jog and took a lunch hike and now she’s resting next to my desk. Our first vet weigh-in came in at around 96 lbs. – the weight loss journey has officially begun!  I’m so happy to have her!”

Picture

Picture
BEAR
Handsome Bear is an 8 years young Shepherd mix. His owner surrendered him to the Contra Costa Shelter to be euthanized because he could no longer care for him and was moving. Lily's would have none of that!  We brought this cutie pie to our sanctuary and in no time at all, Bear’s foster family became his forever family! They love him and will give him all he would ever want in a forever home. Yeah for Bear!

Picture
JACK
Jack, a 10 year-old Border Collie/Collie mix came to us all the way from Fresno. His owner surrendered him to be euthanized because he wasn’t eating, drinking or pooping. He wasn’t put down and Lily’s stepped in to take him. Happy to say he checked out pretty healthy - and quite adorably happy as you can see by this photo. He was quickly adopted by one of our cherished fospice moms, Renee. Jack is one lucky boy.  He truly got a second chance at life - our very purpose and mission.

BRUISER
When Bruiser's new family came to check him out, Bruiser was being his usual adorable self and pretty soon the whole family was out in the dog park playing with him. He was SO good with the little kids, playful yet gentle. At the end of the visit, they went home to think about it. When they came for a second visit with their dogs, again Bruiser impressively showed how he gets along with everyone. That sealed the deal. We are over the moon for Bruiser, he’s found the perfect forever home he so deserves. We sure will sure him.

We think his new family is quite enamored: ”He makes it up and down the stairs well and gets all the attention in the world. We might have to bubble wrap his tail because he won’t stop wagging it we’re afraid he might break it. Ha ha, thanks again!”

WATSON
His new home is on a beautiful country property near Sonoma. His mom Chris introduced him to the whole family: 5 donkeys, a cat and a Pointer named Abby. No problem for Watson, he was fine with all of them. Looks like a pretty sweet life in the country for our boy Watson.

Picture
BAMBI
Bambi was only at the Sanctuary a very short time when she was adopted by Sandra and Gaven from Healdsburg. They had recently come to the Sanctuary for a tour and to look for “their” dog. Didn’t find her that day but Alice showed them pictures and a video of adorable Bambi who was coming in soon. Bambi was on campus less than 24 hours when Sandra and Gaven came to meet her. Took them about 30 seconds to know they had found their dog, it was Bambi. Another match made in Heaven! Update from Sandra…..
“All is going very well. We are in love with our girl..., we have named her Annie.”

CHASE

We were on a mission to find Chase a home by Christmas…..Well, miracle of miracles, Chase has been ADOPTED! Chase’s adopters, Karen and Scott, found out about Lily’s through a brochure they happened to pick up at The Barefoot Café in Fairfax! On our website, Chase looked like just the dog they were looking for. When they came to meet him, Chase was quite attentive and charming. He demonstrated his toy fetching skills, gentle treat-taking and how well he walks on leash. Chase won them over of course. This is a good match! The best news is that Karen works at a very dog friendly company, she plans to bring Chase (on foot) to work with her! How perfect is that? Chase is one lucky dog. We’ll miss our adorable teddy bear big time!

An update from his mom:  “Chase is doing great. Everyone at my office loves him and can’t get over how easy going and soft he is. Chase is loving our daily walks, training and games. As he gets more relaxed with our daily routine his personality is really coming out.”

JESSE

Our official Greeter, Earth Rated Poop Bags Spokes-pup and beloved Gentleman has at long last been ADOPTED! His new mom, Yee, first fell for Jesse on our website. As soon as she walked in the door to meet him in person, Jesse got up to greet her. They locked eyes and that was it, Yee knew he was her dog! Jesse is now living VERY comfortably with his new mom in San Rafael.  We’re all over the moon that Jesse has finally found a forever home! Needless to say, he will be greatly missed!

Message from mom…..
"Jesse has already found a nice comfy bed. J. boy is a snug bug. He kept me warm all night. Settling in slowly and exploring his new digs!"

Picture
DUDE

Dude was adopted by a lovely couple with a one year old Chocolate Lab named, believe it or not, DUDE!! The two Dudes got along great. Our Dude will go to work with dad at a winery every day and keep dad company in his office. Hurrah for Dude, he now has a new brother and a forever home before the Holidays! We’ll all miss him.

LADY

Lady was adopted by a Petaluma couple, Kathleen & Frank, who are long time GSD owners. At their meet and greet Lady took to them immediately. Instant bonding! It doesn’t get much better than this. Besides being Shepherd savvy people, they are retired
and home a lot and Lady will be an “only”.  Lady's new forever home is a beautiful home with a securely fenced 1/3rd acre of landscaped lawn, lots of room for Lady to safely run free. She has truly hit the Mother Lode! Lucky Lady!

Here’s an update from Lady’s mom, Kathleen…..
Lady, AKA "The Queen", is doing just great and has won our hearts.  She’s here to stay!!! Thank you all. Merry Christmas.

BEAR

We got a call from another former adopter who were ready to adopt again IF we had the right dog for them. Did we ever, it was Bear! Tito and Lauralee picked up Bear at Loren and Lynda’s house and brought him home. They are so happy to have found Bear. Looks like Bear’s pretty happy too, enjoying a cozy nap next to his new dad Tito.

BEN

Ben is in permanent foster.  This dog has such a love of life and 'getting out there' despite a bone infection in his spine that can hamper his mobility - hamper, not stop. Never stop.

An update from Pris, Ben's new mom:

Thank you, Alice, for making it possible for Ben to be part of my family!  He’s feeling so much better that he now just “steps up” onto the couch, having taken possession of it from Callie who now has her own chair since Ben takes up all the room on the couch!  “Stepping up” wasn’t anything he could do when he first came.  What a welcome change!  Merry Christmas, Alice, and thank you, many times over.🎄🐶🐶😊

Picture
GOLDIE

How sweet is Goldie?  This 7 or 8 year old Golden Retriever came to Lily's from Yuba County.  She was here for 1 day. Some former Lily's adopters came to visit.  Goldie saw them across the parking area, ran straight to them for some love and that was it.  Adopted!

Here’s a heartwarming update from Catharine……
“Goldie is wonderful! Percy (their other dog) told her who’s boss…she was a bit bored but polite. The KitKat introduction needed a more careful choreography but in the end, no problems. She slept through the night in our room but just had cuddles and love before bed and didn’t need to join us in the bed (to my husband's relief!!). Goldie and I had a long cuddle and chat this morning about the past and the future. She listened with her paw on my arm and understood every word – closed her eyes and dropped into a completely relaxed sleep. Thank you so much, totally in love.”

LOLA

Exciting news, Lola has been adopted by Debby, one of our volunteers! Lola packed her bags for the last time and anxiously waited for mom to come through the door. Once she did, Lola exploded with energy and did zoomies around the barn. It was a heartwarming send-off, a very happy day for both Lola and Debby. You can see for yourself in this video, and share their joy!

This just in from over the moon Debby……

“There aren't enough words for how we feel about Lola. She was too excited the first day, but is now her happy, relaxed self. She has helped us in the garage (and she slept on the job), helped my husband patch the fence, she's cuddled with a wubba, she loves the yard and likes sampling the veggies. Sunday, she went wine tasting! Everyone was smitten with her and she chased her wubba around the wine yard and everyone was in awe!

She's curious about the cats, and now the cats are curious about her. We are still going to wait a while for a real meeting.
Most important, we are smitten with her and her BIG SMILE! She seems happy and WE ARE SO HAPPY!!!”
