Everyone at Lily's Legacy is so grateful to Kimo Garrigan of Ohana Construction and Felix of Felix's Landscaping, both of Petaluma, for moving our mountain of branches and debris from our Sanctuary property! The mountain was here when we arrived at the sanctuary in June, and we could not give our senior pups room to move about safely off-lead without it being removed. A big thank you to Mike Harris for putting our need out to the Petaluma community; our phone was ringing with offers of help within 24-hours! We can't wait to post photos of our sweet pups safely roaming the field this Spring!
The moment it was announced that Lily's Legacy had won $13,000 in a contest sponsored by #100SonomaCountyPeopleWhoCare. Founder Alice Mayn, Board Member Allie McLanahan and the rest of the many Lily's Angels in attendance were overjoyed. The event emcee was former Councilman Mike Harris, who kept the large crowd informed and entertained. Assemblyman Bill Dodd was also in attendance and helped present the check to our dear Alice. As always, we are deeply grateful to all the friends/supporters of our beloved senior pups who made this dream a reality!
🌟 Drake has undergone extensive veterinary care to evaluate his nearly 75% bilateral blindness from cataract and he is undergoing bilateral cataract removal TODAY! 🌟 The surgery will substantially or completely restore Drake's vision, and vastly improve his quality of life. Please keep him in your thoughts today! Drake is a happy, friendly boy who loves playing outdoors just as much as he loves cuddling with his humans. And he's still looking for his forever family - could that be you? If you're not looking to adopt right now, but still want to make a difference in a senior pup's life, please considering sponsoring him! PetSmart Charities has named this weekend, Feb 12-14th, 2016, National Adoption Weekend. If you can’t take a deserving pet in need home with you this weekend, we’ve got a great alternative for you! Please consider sponsoring one of our featured My Furry Valentine dogs at http://www.lilyslegacy.org/my-furry-valentine.html.
Happy Valentine's Day from all of us (two-legged and four-legged) at Lily's Legacy! Lily's volunteers were given an incredible opportunity to attend a highly-informative lecture by Behavior Consultant and lecturer, Tricia Breen. This event was held on Saturday, Feb. 6th at the Sanctuary. Tricia provided helpful tools and insights from years of education and working with pups in a variety of settings. She then proceeded to demonstrate several concepts with our Bunkhouse pups, Riley and Barkley, and our permanent-resident pups, Greta, our Golden Retriever and two GSD's, Sara and Elsa. We are very grateful to Tricia for her informative and delightful presentation and for Sherri Rieck for graciously sharing her beautiful photographs of this event! |
