Hachi
It only took a few days for Hachi to permanently win the hearts of not only his fosters, but his dog-sibling, and the cats too! Here’s what his wonderful fosters said, “The cats are doing better than expected…Even sitting on the back of the couch when Hachi is on the couch…(We) agree that even it if never got better than this, we could handle the cats…so with that said, we are ready to take the next step and officially adopt him.” We couldn’t be more thrilled for Hachi!
The latest update from his adopter:
We love him so much! He is doing great. He has met so many new people - including out daughter who was home from college this weekend. She loves him too! He gets up to great everyone with tail wags and a ball in his mouth. He leans in for hugs and kisses and loves to sit on our laps! He and Keva are doing great. I even saw Keva come over and give him a little kiss yesterday! He is lying next to me right now on the couch, (under the covers) and one of the cats came from the back of the couch and walked right over him and across my computer!! All he did was lift his head up and look at her. I tried to get a picture, but it all happened too fast. He is really making himself at home. He uses the doggie door and has settled into our routine.

Cooper
Sunaina and Matt recently had to say goodbye to their beloved dog, Coco and were finally ready to add to their family of 4 (kids 5 and 7 years of age). They live in Redwood City in a 2 story home with large backyard, and close access to many walking paths and trails. They reached out on Christmas with interest in Cooper as they were drawn to his background.
Cooper had been brought to the county shelter as a stray and his euthanasia deadline was approaching due to a large mass under his armpit that was feared to be cancerous. Sunaina and family came to meet him and fell and love but he wasn’t quite ready to go home until his mass was removed. They kept in touch, following up regularly on his surgery and recovery. Cooper’s mass turned out not be cancerous, but instead an invasive foxtail that had worked his way up his paw! Sunaina and family were elated and were ready to bring him home as soon as he was ready - literally, they met us at the vet after his suture removal and made his adoption final! We are over the moon for Cooper who will get to be a family dog and has already begun settling in very nicely in his new home.

Buddy
Gentle Buddy has hit the jackpot! He has been adopted! A woman named Krista contacted us after late night instagram scrolling and coming across Buddy's irresistibly sweet pictures (excellent job to our social media team!!). He resembled their very loved pittie that sadly crossed the rainbow bridge a few months ago. The children lived with that dog and their current senior dog pictured behind Buddy, named Goose, so they know how to be respectful and gentle with older pups. Krista & her husband came to meet Buddy and "counted down the hours" until their follow-up meeting with Goose and the kids. All went well & they were thrilled to take Buddy home, and planned on introducing him slowly to their cats. We knew Buddy would handle that just fine.
Krista updated us that Buddy has settled in nicely: "He has had little to no interest in the cats, and last night the cats actually slept in the bed with him. He has been enjoying walks, warm blankets, his new roommates, and overall doing great! It's like he's been in our home, on our bed forever. He even helped celebrate my husband's birthday last night. He is such a wonderful addition to our family". Did we mention that they have a queen bed, right next to their king bed, dedicated to their dogs, with no frame so that they can still climb on it easily as they age? Yeah, Buddy really did hit the jackpot.

Kodi
To keep the good news coming, our girl Kodi found her forever home too! Diane and Max lost their last dog about 6 months ago. While Diane was ready to adopt immediately, Max needed some time before diving into the next dog. Diane found Kodi and had a feeling she was their girl. They had Cattledogs in the past and live on a beautiful property in Sebastopol where Kodi can romp and explore while her humans tend to the property and the garden. Lucky Kodi was about to come back to the sanctuary as her foster's availability had changed, but she was here just long enough to meet her new family and off she went!

Kingsley
Sweet Kingsley came to Lily's very sick. After having surgery to remove foreign material (tennis ball pieces, socks, etc!) from his stomach and simultaneously battling aspiration pneumonia, he finally has a happy ending as well. Kingsley is being adopted by his foster parents, Jody & Mark! Jody reports Kingsley likes to curl up next to his greyhound buddies, and cook with his dad in the kitchen. "He's so sweet; usually he doesn't let me out of his sight!" Kingsley will be living his best life with Jody, Mark and several dog siblings. We could not be happier for him!

Travis
Travis has hit the jackpot with one of Lily’s Saturday cuddlers, Linda and her sister Suzanne who have been looking for just the right dog. Travis was recently returned to Lily’s after developing some stranger danger in his adopted home. Linda fell in love with Travis during her time cuddling with him (it’s impossible not to!) and took him home to foster to adopt. It was love immediately, but Linda and Suzanne wanted to be sure Travis would be comfortable and the right fit for their home. After diligent efforts to be sure they could provide the right home for him, they have decided to make it official! Here’s a note from Linda:
“Bringing Travis into our home has brought the light, love, laughter, and companionship that only a dog can provide. We have been looking for seven years for right dog after we lost our beloved Goldens, and Travis, with his big brown eyes and need for security is our boy. We are a disabled household and Travis sitting by our side has brought a lot of joy. Thank you Lily’s for our Christmas gift!”

Molly
Dan & Karen recently lost one of their two dogs in the last year and were looking for another companion for their Labradane, Josie. They have had several dogs over 100 lbs and thought they’d try out a dog on the smaller side of the large breed. They are clients at Play Dog Play and Hector recommended they check us out and they immediately fell in love with Molly. They came to meet her and confirmed that she was their girl! Molly fits perfectly underneath her new “little” sister Josie’s legs and they make an adorable pair.

Taff
Carol has had dogs her whole life and was devastated when she recently lost her last dog. Tess, Carol’s granddaughter, knew how much Carol was missing having a dog and found Taff online. They came to meet him Saturday, fell in love and were ready to take him home! Once all the paperwork was taken care of, they came back Sunday to pick him up. Carol lives on 2 acres (fully fenced) in Novato. One of her daughters, her husband and their 4-year old lab also live on the property so Taff will have a playmate. We are so happy to see Taff surrounded by so much love after what we imagine has been a tough life for him!

Puddin
Our Puddin’ Pot Pie is our longest resident, arriving a couple weeks before our girl Gemma from a shelter in Southern CA. Rumor has it she was surrendered to the shelter after being attacked by another resident dog. Since being at Lily’s, we’ve been working to find Puddin exactly what she needs — a quiet, predictable house with the company of loving humans. And boy, did she find just that! Maureen is a Saturday Lily’s cuddler and heard that Puddin’ needed a place to recover after she had a mass removal in November. It wasn’t long until they fell in love with Puddin’ (it’s impossible not to!) and they made her an official part of the family! Maureen and her husband John are retired and had been without a dog and were looking for the right one to bring into their home. They have two grown daughters who visit occasionally, but mostly, Puddin’ gets to be the center of attention, just as she deserves!

Bambi (now Emma)
Bambi has been ADOPTED! Her new mom, Janie, has owned several dogs over the years and has a special affinity for German Shepherds! She has been looking for the next right dog and when her friend met Daisy Doodle at our adoption event at Hopmunk, she called Janie and told her she HAD to get down to meet this sweet girl! She raced down to the event, but unfortunately our crew had just left. Janie called the sanctuary and made arrangements to meet Daisy Doodle and Bambi, who was a new arrival. Janie came two times and spent time with both dogs in the barn and the dog park. It was a tough decision, but in the end Janie chose to adopt Bambi as she felt a connection with her, playing in the dog park chasing the ball. Janie lives in Novato and like many of us, her dogs are her children, Bambi will be well loved!
Janie was so excited to take Bambi home. She now has a new name, Emma and there's already a stocking up for her at home! How sweet is that?

Mia
Lily’s volunteer, Deb had been keeping her eyes open for a Rottie for a while, so when she heard about Mia, she had a feeling she had found her girl! After meeting her, it was true love and she was ready to bring Mia home. However, Deb had a preexisting trip planned so needed to wait to come pick her up until after she got back. She was counting down the minutes, checking in while she was away (Hector, Mia’s foster, sent Deb daily pictures of Mia while she was gone) and arrived as quickly as she could to pick her up when she got back. What a match made in heaven! Mia is going to be well loved and spoiled, as she should be, experiencing the joys of living in side for the first time in her new home. Deb splits time between Cloverdale and her boyfriend’s place in Santa Rosa so Mia will get lots of love and attention.

Freedom
His adopters. Miguel and Mandy are previous Lily’s adopters, most recently adopting Bruiser, a black lab in January 2018. They keep an eye on Lily’s dogs and had been looking for another large dog to add to their pack of currently 5 small dogs! Miguel saw Freedom online and knew he had to meet him. Lily’s phones had been down in the storm, so Miguel took matters into his own hands and just stopped by the sanctuary! At that time, Freedom had a pending adoption with someone else. When Freedom’s adoption fell through, we called Miguel who was en route to the dentist. He turned his car around, canceled his dentist appt and came straight over to meet Freedom. Obviously, he fell in love! Miguel and Mandy surprised their kids when they picked them up from school with the newest addition to the family. They are calling Freedom Miguel’s Christmas present, but we see Miguel and family as Freedom’s Christmas present! We re so happy for this crew!

Jack
Marty is a friend of long-time Lily’s volunteer, Barbara and was looking for another dog after losing her sweet Yoshi, a lovable senior lab. She originally spotted Freedom, who we were looking to home in a family with another dog. So we suggested she meet Jack instead! Jack had JUST been accepted into the program and hadn’t even had a Lily’s intake yet. But we thought they could be a match made in heaven. So we arranged a last minute meet and greet and Marty quickly fell in love with Jack’s sweet and loving nature!
Jack’s rehoming was a big and difficult decision for Jack’s current family. Jack was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease which is manageable, but more than this young family with 3 kids could handle. Jack’s current owners were able to meet Marty - they sat together in the barn for about an hour, crying and laughing together. So much grief and happiness in the room for sweet Jack. It was a very loving change of hands for him. It was arranged that Jack’s current owners would take him home to say his goodbyes (and join the 9th birthday party of his human sister) and Barbara would pick him up the next morning to take him up to his new home outside of Fort Bragg! Jack will have goat friends on the property who love to snack on apples. Turns out - so does Jack! So Marty decided she will start doing Apple Hour with everyone, a perfect way to bond!

Maggie & Buddy
Kathy originally found Lily’s when she came across one of our Labs available for adoption online! When that dog had found another home, we kept Kathy on our Lab Lovers list. It wasn’t long until Maggie and Buddy came along, the perfect pair! Kathy went to meet them and it was impossible not to fall in love with them. Kathy lives in Santa Rosa and lost her beloved dog about 6 months ago and was missing the companionship of a dog. She is a home caretaker and about retire - Maggie and Buddy are the perfect retirement gift!

Valentina
Kathy and Eric heard about Lily’s when a friend of a friend adopted a dog from us. They were originally interested in Koda but when he found a home, they came to Lily’s to meet GSD’s and fell in love with Valentina (how could you not?!). They recently lost their senior GSD about 5 months ago and were finally ready to add back to their pack. They had been missing having a dog and said it felt empty in their home without one. They have a 13-year old cat and live in a lovely townhome in Headlsburg. Kathy works from home and Eric is retired, so someone is always home! They were very excited to come pick her up. It was clear they had been counting down the minutes until they could come get her!

Rufus
Nanci and Charlie are loyal “lab” lovers and have rescued several labs over their lifetime. They lost one of their beloved labs a few weeks ago and were looking to fill the empty spot in their crew. They live on 6 acres in Foresthill with 2 horses and a senior black lab named, Aspen who came with them to Lily’s to interview new best friends. Rufus couldn’t have captured their hearts faster, going right up to Aspen and giving her lots of kisses and charming Nanci and Charlie with his adorable grin and wiggly body. Aspen also made herself right at home, cuddling up on the couches in the barn, quite content. Nanci and Charlie were in love immediately and were ready to take him home. Even though they live on 6 beautiful acres, Charlie takes the dogs on 4+ mile walks/hikes per day. Rufus gladly jumped right into the car, buckled in right next to his new bestie, Aspen and off they went! We gave him many parting kisses as he ventures onto his new life filled with a doggie sister and TWO humans who are retired and are home ALL THE TIME! :)

Koda
Tommie and her husband, Jack lost their most recent dog three years ago and have been waiting for the right dog to come along. In the meantime, they have been keeping busy with their Alpaca Farm in Cloverdale that boasts 20 alpacas, chickens and 2 guardian dogs. They heard about Koda through a friend and he seemed like the perfect fit. They came to meet him today and Koda chose them. He marched right over, got up on the couch right between them and hunkered in! It didn’t take long until he got into the back of their car and was on his way! Tommie is around full-time on the alpaca farm and eventually Koda will be able to accompany her with all the chores once he’s acclimated and properly introduced.

Abby
Once again, keeping our paws crossed worked, Abby has been ADOPTED! Last week, we were thrilled to receive a message from her foster-to-adopters, Hailey and Matt, letting us know they wanted to move forward with making Abby a permanent member of their family. They said she is "amazing", great with the baby, cat has adjusted and they love her very much!
The whole family came to make the Adoption official. While the paperwork was taken care of, Abby wandered around the barn sniffing familiar spots where she used to hang out, poked her head through the curtain to see what all the barking was about and then circled back to her family for the happy send-off picture! Just look at all their smiling faces!

Zella
Zella had several potential adopters come to meet her. Paws down the best match was with
John & Donna, a couple who previously adopted Lily's pup, Java, a chocolate lab, in December 2023. When Zella met Java it was all good, they got along great together. We think John & Donna will provide the same quiet environment Zella likely had before with her one human. Plus, their daughter, Erin, is a veterinarian and can take care of all Zella’s vet needs, including mass removals and a dental.

Hunky Dory - a Foster Fail!
Aaron had been thinking of adopting a dog for years and had a special affinity for pitties. He works from home and has a big, fenced backyard, so when Hunky Dory needed a place to heal from his toe amputation, it was the perfect match. It didn’t take long for Hunky Dory to work his magic, making himself right at home. Hunky and Aaron make an adorable pair, enjoying sunset walks, tug of war tournaments and Hunky even helps in the home gym, gladly serving as a 50 lb. weight for “Hunky Squats.”
Hunky’s adorable heart-shaped head, adoring eyes and goofy demeanor is impossible to resist. We are so happy for Hunky and Aaron, their smiling faces say it all!

Leon & Chloe
Here’s how these two cuties adoption came to be….Michael and John recently lost their dog and were ready to open their hearts and home again to another pup. They heard about Lily’s through long-time Lily’s supporters and came to meet our dogs. Little did they know, they would soon be taking home two!
Leon and Chloe came separately to Lily’s, on the same day. They rode up from the vet side by side in the van and seemed to enjoy each other’s company. We kept them socialized together so when Michael and John came, they met Leon and Chloe together in the corral. They got down on the grass to be with them. Michael had an immediate soft spot for Leon and his ongoing skin needs and John had a special love for Chloe. The couple has had several rescue dogs and understand the special patience and love that is required to bring them home. They’re both retired and still very active. We have no doubt Leon and Chloe will be well cared for and dearly loved the rest of their lives.

Cali
Cali is one lucky girl, she fast-tracked through Lily’s in record time. The day Cali was posted on our website, she was spotted by John and Barbara who had recently lost their beloved chocolate Lab. Cali looked just like her, they were 100% sure she was their new dog and wanted to come meet her right away. When they arrived at Lily’s, the first thing John said to the volunteer who greeted them was “We’re here to pick up our dog, Cali!” As it turned out, Cali was in fact their new dog, but they didn’t get to take her home till a few days later.
Cali is now living on a 300-acre ranch on the outskirts of Petaluma. John is a plumbing contractor and has his own business, Barbara works there too. Lucky Cali will get to go to work with them. Barbara’s t-shirt says it all ”DOGS MAKE LIFE BETTER”. We’re certain Cali will make sure that’s absolutely true!

Teddy
It took awhile for Teddy to be adopted, Vern and Nancy were worth waiting for, they’re perfect for him! They were looking for a senior dog, heard about Lily’s from the internet and sent in an application. Over the years, they have had 9 dogs - including GSDs, a Lab, an Australian Shepherd and a Cocker Spaniel. They are both retired. Vern is still quite active, riding his bike 50 – 100 miles per week. Nancy is an avid reader and wears a sweatshirt that says "Dogs and Books - LIFE IS GOOD"!
When Vern and Nancy told us they were looking to adopt a chill/easy dog, we immediately thought that mellow Teddy would be the perfect dog for them. They came all the way up from Sunnyvale to meet Teddy. As we’d hoped, Teddy quickly won them over with his calm demeanor, quiet charm and good looks. He sealed the deal by laying at their feet looking adoringly at them. We’ll miss having Teddy with us but are over the moon he’s found the forever home he’s been waiting for.

Rocky
Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly have another adoption, thankfully we did, Rocky! Grady and Mary recently lost their beloved Shepherd and were ready to open their hearts again to another dog. They were also looking for a new friend for their 12+ year old Beagle mix, Casey. Grady and Mary are both retired from the medical field and live on a 3 acre property in Los Gatos.
When they came to meet Rocky, they loved his gentle, sweet nature and that he was so good with little Casey in the corral. Rocky and Casey make quite a cute pair, she looks like a mini version of him! While the paperwork was taken care of, Rocky went back to the Bunkhouse. He was not happy about that and started whining as if to say “Wait, I thought they were taking me home, why am I back in my kennel?” When they were ready to go Rocky came flying out of the Bunkhouse, made a bee line for the SUV and attempted to hop in before we could get the stairs in place. Then he climbed up onto the backseat and laid down, ready to go! Casey sat in the front seat with Mary and off they went to start their new life together.

Zarina (now Molly)
Fantastic news, Miss Zarina has been ADOPTED! Her new family, Dale and Leslie are longtime Shepherd lovers and have owned 3 GSD’s over the years. When they came to meet Zarina, she engaged with them and they with her. We showed them some of Zarina’s trick skills and walked her with another dog so they could observe her leash reactivity. Their last GSD lived to be 14 and had been dog reactive. They successfully worked with a trainer and have already consulted with Josh Beckler of K9Optima. Dale and Leslie live in west Petaluma in a lovely home with a large back yard with grass. Also, Dale is a runner, 3-6 miles a day, and will take Zarina (now Molly) with him.
Update: Miss Molly is doing great. She has such a loving personality, is easy to be around, and it seems like she has already settled in to the home. She slept well last night and we went for a 3.5 mile jog this morning that took forever as we had to stop every 20 – 30 yards for a must sniff. She has a great appetite and simply inhales her food. We went on a 1.5 mile walk this afternoon where she could leisurely do her sniffs, which she did. Simply put, she is a gem, it is great to have her!!!

Lucy
Oh happy day, at long last, Miss Lucy has been ADOPTED! On adoption day, she had her bags all packed and was ready to go. The paperwork had already been taken care of, so when her dad, Tim came all that needed to happen was the send-off picture. Lucy sat nicely for that, then she was out the door in a flash, hopped in the car and off she went to her forever home right here in Petaluma!
Update: Lucy went on a neighborhood walk with Linus. Lucy is a hound, smelled everything and peed everywhere. We let her in the backyard with leash for a bit and then brought Linus out. They played for a bit, she checked out the inside fine, on leash. She’s now resting peacefully in a crate.

Redmond
Good news, Redmond has been ADOPTED by Helen and Kurt, former adopters of 3 other Lily’s pups dating back to 2014! Most recently they adopted Angel (renamed Harley), a 12 year old Golden in July 2022.
There was a lot of interest in Redmond, we were looking for the best home for this special boy. When Helen and Kurt spotted Redmond on our website, they reached out wanting to meet him right away. The next day, after Redmond made his debut appearance at Pet Food Express, Helen and Kurt came when he got back. Within about 5 minutes, it was a done deal, a perfect match. Redmond happily posed, cone and all, for the send off picture and then off he went to his new home in Sonoma.

Danish
More good news, Danish has been ADOPTED by Jennifer who adopted Lily's pup, Roxy, a chocolate shepherd mix, two months ago. Jennifer was the one who first spotted Danish in the Kern County Shelter. She reached out to us to help save her and that’s just what happened.
Jennifer has been following Danish’s recovery from her life saving surgery, anxiously waiting till she was fully healed to bring her home. Wednesday, Danish had her sutures removed and was good to go! Jennifer came the next day to pick her up. It was heartwarming to see the happy, tearful greeting when she met Danish for the first time! Before heading home, Jennifer gave Danish a nice bath in our warm water bathing station. She seemed to like it.
Danish, our miracle girl, will be well cared for and loved the rest of her life.

Blackie AKA Apache
THIS JUST IN - A BLACKIE UPDATE FROM HIS NEW MOM!
For those who have been interested in and following Blackie’s story, here’s the latest.
Firstly, Blackie has a forever home!! We brought him in as a foster, but honestly never intended to do anything but adopt him.
Please allow me to introduce you to our awesome dog, Apache! Much thought went into his name selection. Apache represents strength and a fighting spirit, which he has shown in overcoming his physical challenges. The name also is in keeping with our theme of aviation dog names, and we call him Patch for short as he’s all patched up. Apache has settled in very well, and although he doesn’t seem to possess any language skills (like he doesn’t recognize any words, at least in English), he has shown an aptitude for training. Yes, he’s been training us since he got here.
He absolutely loves getting in a vehicle and going somewhere. He accompanies us pretty much everywhere or has one of us at home with him. While he is still a tad wobbly in his hind quarters, he gets around just fine.
He still loves the kitchen since it magically creates food and treats. Apache was described as “aloof”, and while true he always wants to meet everyone and greets all with a wag and often a kiss.
I truly believe that not only have we bonded with Apache, he too, has bonded with us. We love our unique and very special dog!!

Char
Happy news, Char has been ADOPTED! Big thanks to Char’s foster, Shanna, for driving her all the way to Redding to meet up with her new mom, Jodi, who came down from Medford, OR. Jodi has adopted 3 Lily’s pups, dating back to 2019. She has been without a dog for a while and recently, the time was right to open her heart and home again to another companion. She spotted Char on our website and was drawn to her. Jodi was put in touch with Shanna and adoption wheels were set in motion. Transport logistics were figured out and Friday it all came together beautifully.
Update: Char (I will change her name in a day or so...) is doing very well all things considered, a lot of progress already. I know how to make her journey easier and will give her all the time she needs to feel confident with me. She is a gem!

Madeline AKA Maddie
Good News, Miss Madeline has been ADOPTED! Her adopters, Jackie and Jim are both retired law enforcement and live in Cotati. They were looking for a companion for their 2 ½ year old Belgian Malinois, Luna, that they recently adopted from Marin Humane. Last week, they brought Luna to meet Madeline. When they first met, Madeline was so sweet, she strode right up to Luna, licked her face and nudged it with a motherly tone.
Update: Madeline (now Maddie) and Luna are best friends now! They have been chasing and playing with each other for a couple of hours! They finally are tuckered out and are taking naps!

Wanda
Good News, Miss Wanda has been Adopted! Her new mom, Nikki, has adopted 2 Lily’s pups dating back to 2012 and 2016. She was looking for a new companion, spotted Wanda on the internet and fell in love. We had been looking for the best possible home for our special girl. When Nikki came to meet Wanda, there was an instant connection between them, they were a perfect match. In the end, it was Wanda herself who chose Nikki to be her new mom!
On Adoption Day, Nikki was so excited and Wanda seemed to know that something really good was happening. She posed for the happy send-off picture and then off they went home to Windsor to start their new life together. Nikki is home most of the time and plans to take Wanda with her to work a couple of days a week. Doesn't get much better than that!

Jude
Sharing the happy news that Jude has officially been ADOPTED! This sweet senior boy has been at Lily’s since February, and living with his foster mom, Jill, since April. In that time, he’s been getting used to life and the routines at Lily’s, enjoying being a greeter for volunteers, and making great strides in his training both on and off campus.
Update: I’m so proud of the progress Jude has made. It’s been so wonderful to watch him slowly become more comfortable and confident around other dogs. I know that will continually improve as we continue to work on it. As I’ve gotten to know him more, his playful and curious personality is coming through. His eyes light up when I tell him we’re going outside or I pull out a kong to give him. My heart melts seeing that. Especially knowing that Jude was picked up as a stray and spent 3 months in a shelter before coming to Lily’s, I’m so happy to get to pour so much love and care into him now and give him the amazing life he deserves.
I adopted Faith, a beautiful German Shepherd, from Lily’s in 2017. I was devastated when she passed 2.5 short years later. For a few years after that, I had many dogs in and out of my life while pet sitting, but had been longing for a dog of my own again. Throughout my life, the best things have found me, when I least expected it, and my life changed for the better because of it. Jude is no exception to that. He’s already brought so much joy and love back into my life and I feel so lucky to have him. I’m excited to start a new chapter with this sweet boy!

Navarro
Navarro has been ADOPTED! His adopters, volunteer Susan and her husband Frank came all the way from Castro Valley to bring their boy home. Navarro’s foster, Shanna, brought him to Lily’s, he was waiting in the barn for his mom and dad to arrive. When they came through the door it was a joyous reunion with lots of tail wags and kisses. Navarro sat still long enough for the send off picture and then bounded out the door and hopped in the car, ready to head home!
Update: Navarro's first 27 hours of being home has been seamless! He is easy-going, gentle and "kind". He was a little anxious at first but then quickly began to relax. He tentatively and bravely explored our home and soon discovered where our 2 kitties were behind our bedroom door. Last night and today, he spent a lot of time lying right next to our bedroom door where Gizmo, our more outgoing cat, was hanging out and gently talking to him. We opened the door today with a high gate in between and Navarro immediately did a quick play bow☺️Tomorrow will be an on-leash introduction.
He's enjoying our large backyard playing ball and relaxing in the shade. Navarro and I slept in our family room (Frank kept our cats company) and he slept through the entire night. A friend visited today and Navarro greeted her with happy tail wags.
Frank and I are so grateful for Lily's entrusting us with this special boy. We really want to thank Navarro's incredible foster, Shanna, for preparing him to be home. So far, no counter surfing!! Only a raised nose when Frank cooked bacon this morning which Navarro stopped with a gentle “ah-ah”.

Boots
Boots has been ADOPTED by his foster dad, Steve!
Boots’ story is inspirational and one of resilience. After living at a Central Valley shelter for a whole year, Boots came to Lily’s very shut down, shy and afraid of everything in the outside world. Over the next several months, he made progress and began to slowly transform into a confident, well-adjusted dog who was ready for a forever home. Thankfully, that’s when Steve came along and took him home to foster. We received frequent updates how Boots was adjusting to his new home. At first, it was two steps forward and one step back. With time, patience and love, things continued moving in the right direction. After several months, we were thrilled when Steve let us know he wanted to adopt Boots. Last week, he brought Boots with him to Lily’s and made it official!
Update: He is SOOOO sweet. Just wants to hang out with me all the time. Loves walking downtown and seeing everyone. I got very lucky with him!

Henry
Henry has been ADOPTED by Beth & Brianna, he is their third Lily's pup. They first adopted Lucy, a Black Lab, in 2018 and then Lager, a tripod Chocolate Lab, in 2020. Lucy has since passed and Lager needed a new companion. A couple of weeks ago, Beth & Brianna came with Lager to meet some pups. At the end of the day, they went home to think about it. We were thrilled (and pleasantly surprised!) they wanted to adopt Henry!
When Beth & Brianna arrived on Adoption Day, Henry was napping (after all it was afternoon!). He had to be rousted from his bed to come out and greet his new family. Of course, he had no clue what was going on and at one point stood in front of the gate wanting to go back to his run to lay in the sun. No problem, Beth & Brianna were totally cool with that, they seem to “get” Henry pretty well. When they were ready to hit the road, we brought Henry outside, he abruptly stopped and didn’t want to move forward. Then he saw Beth & Brianna standing by their car and he actually trotted over to them, headed straight for the open car door wanting to hop in. After the send-off picture was taken care of, Brianna picked Henry up (like she does Lager) and put him in the back seat. He stuck his head out the window, I kissed him goodbye and whispered in his ear “don’t blow it”! Then off they went home to Sacramento where Lager was waiting for his new brother to arrive.

Tundra
Tundra, he has been ADOPTED by his “temporary” foster, Lu and her family which includes Lily's alum, blind Izzie (now Grazi). Not long after Tundra arrived at their home, just one week ago, the whole three generational family fell in love with him (including the kitties!). It was a meant to be, perfect match!
Saturday, Lu and her daughter Gianna came with Tundra and Grazi to make the adoption official. Grazi had her signature big smile and Tundra looked fantastic! He now has a beautiful new name, Enzo, which means “stoic protector, white light”, it suits him well! Lu’s social media comment says it all.....
“We were trying so hard to be good fosters, but with each adopt_tundra post I just knew I was a fraud!! We tried not to get attached but we fell in love with how sensitive & gentle he is. When he began eating his new meat diet with gusto, I knew he was happy. When my daughter insisted on vetting his potential forever family, I knew we were in trouble! When the cats began sleeping with him, I knew the deal was done.”

Roxy
Roxy, a beautiful chocolate Shepherd mix was rescued from the Stanislaus Shelter in the nick of time. She went straight from the shelter to Fairfax Vet for intake, made a brief stop at Lily’s where she met up with her foster, Jennifer, who took her home. From the get go, Roxy fit right in with Jennifer’s pack, 2 shepherd mixes and 1 cattle dog mix. Amazingly, in less than a week, Jennifer became a Foster Fail and ADOPTED Roxy and made her a permanent member of the family. Another Happy Tail!

Queenie
Queenie’s heartwarming story truly demonstrates how “It Takes a Village”.
From the moment we saw her picture, a scared stray down in Riverside, we knew this little girl was special. We have a connection in SoCal, Bree, and she went to assess Queenie and confirmed that she was a big love, needing out of the shelter ASAP! She had likely been used for breeding and was very neglected.
We called our friend Peter with Pilots for Paws and arranged for Queenie to fly up to Petaluma.
This poor girl was so scared upon arrival, she lodged herself in the cockpit too scared to come out. After lots of treats and eventually a little push, she came off the plane and onto her intake exam. Her wonderful foster and long-time Lily’s friend, Dinah, picked her up from the vet and got right to work making Queenie feel safe and loved.
Dinah’s neighbor, Lynette, a dog lover, came over every day to help walk Queenie as she was a bit too much for Dinah at first, fearful and wanting to bolt. Lynette kept telling her “you’re safe, you’re safe, you’re safe” which seemed to calm Queenie down. Lynette and Dinah walked her with King, Dinah’s 10lb. Chihuahua, who gave Queenie confidence! They advocated for Queenie to keep her feeling safe, alerting neighbors to respect her space. Dinah provided her with endless love and assurance, bringing her slowly but surely out of her shell.
Queenie’s adopter, Karla, originally applied for a Lily's dog last fall, but decided to take some time to focus on work being done on her house! When she recently reached out, ready to adopt, we knew Queenie would capture her heart. Well, we couldn’t have asked for a better adopter for Queenie who understands the patience and love she needs to learn that she doesn’t need to be afraid of everything! Karla and Queenie’s foster, Dinah, spent 11+ hours visiting to help Queenie feel safe and comfortable before going home with Karla.
Queenie went home with Karla to start her new life, where she will be well loved and have a cat friend, Gizmo!

Dakota (now Koa)
Dakota's story is a magical one. He made his way from the streets of Stockton to the overcrowded Stockton Shelter where the staff saw a sweet, senior boy and realized he needed a special place to land. They reached out to Lily's and we gladly agreed to take him.
Within a few weeks of his arrival at Lily's, he was spotted by Lisa and Bart on our website and social media. They fell in love with Dakota as he reminded them of their previous German Shepherd. Lisa and Bart came to meet Dakota in person. All went well and they went home to think about it. The next morning, they called with their decision to adopt Dakota and drove all the way back to Petaluma that same day.
Dakota (now Koa) rode out of Lily's in style, in the backseat of a Tesla, to his new home in San Mateo. We couldn't be happier for Koa and his new family!

Rocky
Lee recently lost his beloved Bouvier, Maddie, to cancer. He has been looking for a new companion and Rocky was a good possibility. When Lee came to meet him, he fell in love.
Lee was so excited to adopt Rocky. As you can see, they were quite the smiling pair! After the send-off picture was taken, Rocky trotted out the door with his ears flappin' and tail waggin'. He hopped in Lee's car and off they went to start their new life together! We are over the moon for Rocky, looking forward to updates.

Levi
Levi's new mom, Joan is a German Shorthair Pointer girl (note her GSP hat!). She had lost her last Pointer earlier this year and was heartbroken. Well, timing is everything, we had just the right dog for Joan, Levi a Pointer mix! We put Joan in touch with Levi’s foster, Shanna and a few days later she drove all the way from Huntington Beach (south of LA) to adopt Levi, sight unseen. Thankfully, it turned out to be a perfect love match! Levi was so happy, he could barely sit still for the send-off picture. Then off they went to Alamo where Joan’s son lives to stay a few days before heading back to Huntington Beach.

Hershey
Our most recent pup to be “picked” is Hershey. He was ADOPTED by Tara and Scott, a couple from Alamo. They have a lovely home that has a swimming pool where Hershey can swim to his heart’s content. Hershey's new family includes a mom and dad who are home most of the time, 2 human brothers (16 and 18 years old) and a canine buddy, Petey, a 13-year-old Beagle. And it gets even better, the family also has a place in Tahoe where Hershey will get lots of access to the outdoors and hikes. He is one lucky pup!
Update: Just wanted to check in and let you know that Hershey may be the perfect dog!! He is settling in so well and he and Petey are doing great together. He is truly the sweetest, happiest, most well-behaved dog. Thank you so very much for letting us adopt him. We are all so in love and so grateful to Lilys for saving him!!

Skip
Great news, just today, Skip was ADOPTED! Here’s how it came to be….
Yoneko, who lives outside of San Luis Obispo came across Skip’s posting online. She is a hospital manager at a veterinary ER so is well equipped to handle Skip’s diagnoses. She did her due diligence, looked over Skip’s vet records with her vet to make sure she was totally informed on his condition before coming to meet him. Yesterday, she made the trip to Lily’s. She spent time with Skip and talked with his foster, Shanna. Then Yoneko took Skip for an overnight at the hotel where she was staying in Santa Rosa. All went well, Skip slept like a log, Yoneko kept checking on him to make sure he was okay. She fell in love and decided to bring him home with her. And that's just what she did.
In his new home, Skip will get to go to the beach and on lots of short hikes. And better yet, he’ll be going to work with mom! Looks like Skipper has hit the jackpot!

He lived a good long life with them. They currently have 2 dogs and were looking to add a third when they spotted Kennedy on the internet.
John & Monica came with their 2 dogs to meet Kennedy. The dogs got along great together, it was a good match, the adoption was a go!

Doc
Doc has a home with Lyssa, his new mom. Doc is one lucky boy! His new home is in Penngrove on a beautiful acreage property, he'll have a sweet yellow lab sister named Lolly. And, best of all, Lyssa will be taking Doc and Lolly with her to work everyday at Tappan Hill Dog Boarding in Sebastopol.
When Lyssa came with Lolly to meet Doc, they were great together and make a cute pair.
Hurrah for Doc!

Maisy - now Avi
Dorit came to take Maisy home as a Foster-to-Adopt. Truth be told, besides Izzy’s excited adopters a few weeks back, we’ve never seen such a happy adopter as Dorit! Miss Maisy was pretty happy too!
All is going well! Dorit’s little dog is accepting Maisy (now Avi) very easily, like she has always been there. The cats are going up to Maisy with no issues. Dorit has signed up with a trainer to continue Maisy’s walking skills.
Update: Dorit let us know she feels soooo lucky to have Maisy!

Ellie
Remember Ellie, our cute shepherd mix who arrived at Lily’s in rough shape and over several months transformed into a healthy, gorgeous girl? Well, there’s good news for Miss Ellie. As we had hoped, she completely wormed her way into the hearts of her fosters, Lori & Tom, they have officially ADOPTED her! It’s not surprising, Lori has always had a soft spot for shepherds. Ellie caught her eye right away and now she’s home to stay!
Update: Lori reports that whenever she leaves the house for an errand, Ellie scans the house for an item of hers, like a shoe or towel, and then curls up with it until she comes home. She doesn't chew on it or damage it in any way, she just wants something close that smells like mom. How sweet is that!!

Sasha
Miss Sasha is officially ADOPTED! Her new mom, Meghan, saw her post online and fell in love. She came with her husband, Brian, and their 2 year old Golden Doodle, Ruby, to meet Sasha. Meeting her in person, the love only grew, Meghan & Brian knew right away they wanted to make Sasha a part of their family. Due to a pre-existing trip planned, they couldn’t take her home till after they got back.
Finally it was Adoption Day. Meghan brought with her a bandana with Sasha’s name embroidered on it and a Gotcha Day hat. Shasha seemed to know she was leaving and made the rounds giving farewell kisses to everyone. Then she trotted out the door, hopped in the car and headed to her new home. Happy days ahead for Sasha, she’s landed with a wonderful family!
Update: Sasha is doing great, she’s adjusting well to her new home and is much loved!

Blondie - now Goldie
We got a call from Karen, a previous Lily’s adopter. She and her partner, Robin, were ready to add a new dog to their family. They came that afternoon from Rio Nido with their 3 little dogs to meet some of our pups. Well, in the end it was Blondie who stole both their hearts. On the spot, they signed the adoption paperwork!
Update: "Blondie – now called Goldie (it was too confusing having a Blondie and a Bonnie). Goldie is nothing short of perfection!!!! She is sweet, well mannered, and kind. We could not ask for a better pooch! She is great with all the other dogs and while mildly interested in the kitties, she basically ignores them – which makes them feel very safe with her. Her house training skills are exemplary!I know it’s only been 2 days with us, but she is so impressive! She was a bit nervous the first night – pacing some during the night – because it was hot and too uncomfortable to be in the bed with us. So, she chose to sleep on the cooler floor. We let her choose if she prefers the floor. We move her bed in our room at night and sometimes she sleeps in it.
Overall, we are sooooooo very happy we got to adopt her. She is just so fabulous! Thank you for letting her come home with us."

He is well cared for and he is bringing much joy to our lives.

Izzie - now Grazi
Izzie’s three generational foster family (now forever family!) Lucianna, daughter Gianna and dad Joe all came to be a part of Izzie’s official adoption day! They love Izzie so much and couldn’t be more excited to be making her an official member of their family. It was a joyous occasion! Izzie, wearing her red BLIND bandanna, enthusiastically greeted everyone with her big beautiful smile, she was so happy. Her family calls her “gratzie vita” meaning “thank you for life” which is how they see her bringing life to their family. Joe sits and reads to Izzie in the afternoon and sometimes cuts his golf game short, so he's not away too long! Izzie often sleeps with Gianna and has shown Lucianna how to slow down and appreciate her surroundings.
This is a great story of a family of all ages adopting and enjoying a senior dog. It is truly a generational adoption and we are so happy for Izzie!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK..... Marley & Linny go home!
Judy & Danny, a soon-to-be married couple, came to meet our pups. They both had dogs as kids and were looking to adopt their "first" dog together. Well, it was no surprise that they fell in love with Marley & Linny. Due to their upcoming wedding, the plan was to bring the doggies home in early May. The timing worked out great, we got to enjoy having Marley & Linny with us a few more weeks.
On adoption day, Judy & Danny were so excited to finally be taking their new pups home. Smiles all around for the send-off picture and then off they went to their new home. They have landed in just the right place. Judy & Danny work from home and have set up space for the dogs to hang with either of them while they work during the day. The pups will also have a nice backyard. Happy days ahead for these sweet pups, we will miss them!

Dakota
More good news, Dakota has been Adopted! His new mom, June and her son Dave, live on a 75-acre horse ranch on the outskirts of Petaluma. Dave lives in an apartment on the property and manages the ranch. They recently lost their dog and when they saw Dakota’s posting on our website, it was love at first sight. When they came to meet Dakota in person, they were even more sure he was their new dog.
On adoption day, June and Dave were so happy to bring Dakota home. The plan is that during the day, Dakota will be out on the ranch with Dave (on leash) and will be taken to one of two horse rings, twice a day, to run around and burn off his excess energy. Also, throughout the day, Dakota will get lots of attention and love from all the horse boarder visitors. Then at night Dakota will be with June at her house that’s on the property. Stay tuned for updates....

When Greg came to meet Uni he knew right away what a great dog he is. He went home to discuss with the family. Next step was to bring Rex to meet Uni. Their meet and greet was great - the boys got along very well, it was a go!
Greg picked up Uni last week and all reports are terrific. We are over the moon happy for Uni and it looks like he is too!!

Tank
Tank’s new dad, Bob, is a true Corgi lover. He lost his last Corgi 18 months ago and was missing having a dog by his side. When Bob’s son sent him Tank’s website post, he was very interested and sent in an application. His references checked out great, he has a lovely home with a nice backyard. We sent Bob videos of Tank. He was all in and wanted to adopt Tank, sight unseen!
Bob made the 2 ½ hour drive from Roseville to Petaluma. When Tank waltzed into the corral with his cute little face framed in the cone, they connected right away, 2 seniors who needed each other. We’re so happy for Tank, he will be missed.

Lucy
Miss Lucy's new dad, Dale, lost his dog of 18 years in December. He was heartbroken and had never not had a dog. His family stepped up and helped him find Lucy. A week ago, Dale came with his granddaughter and a friend to meet her, it went really well. They all felt Lucy would fit in beautifully with their family. The fact that they had a dog named Lucy in the past was a “sign”, it was simply meant to be!
On Adoption Day, after Lucy burned off some energy in the Dog Park, she was waiting in the corral for Dale to arrive. As soon as she saw him, she went right to him with her tail wagging, it was a happy reunion. While the paperwork was taken care of, Lucy quietly laid at Dale’s feet and then jumped up on the couch for the send-off picture. When it was time to go, she hopped in the car and off she went to her new home in Sonoma. She'll have a beautiful backyard to play ball in and a supportive extended family nearby to help out when needed. She’s a lucky girl!

Scooter
Highlight of the Week! Scooter had his bags all packed so he was ready to go when Jan & Dwight came to take him home. Jan told us they enjoyed their 6 week vacation but really missed Scooter. Well, it was a heartwarming reunion, they were so happy to see each other again! After the foster-to-adopt paperwork was taken care of and goodbyes said, Scooter waltzed out the door, hopefully for the last time, and hopped in the car without hesitation.
Update: Scooter took about 4 hours to reintegrate with the household routine; by our evening card game he was in his old preferred spot--under the table between the two of us. He is being a very good boy, and seems SO happy to be back! The photo with me was taken when he was here last time, and we celebrated Mardi Gras together!

Blue
Our second April Adoption is Blue! His adoption happened quickly after his new mom, Laura, who is a veterinarian about to retire, spotted him on our website. She and her husband, Jim, lost their 14 year old pittie about a year ago. They were ready to adopt another senior pittie and find a new friend for their 4 year old lab, Gertie. They live in Nicolaus, north of Sacramento and have cats and chickens on the property. Fortunately, Blue did just fine with the cats, chickens and dogs in his foster home. Adoption wheels were set in motion. Last week, Laura and Jim came to meet Blue at his foster home in Santa Rosa. It went very well, they fell in love with Blue and took him home.
Update: He is doing great so far. Ignores the cats and chickens which is perfect. Very sweet and doing his best to fit in. He is actually playing and romping!

Hunter (on right)
Our third April Adoption is Hunter! His new family, Nichole & Peter, found out about him from his foster, Gwen, who is a friend of theirs. They set up a few doggie play dates with Hunter and their female Pointer, Freya, they got along great. Gwen provided glowing recommendations for Nichole and her family. They have a beautiful home with a large garden in the Camp Meeker area. They enjoy hanging out with their dog around an outdoor fireplace, going on walks in the neighborhood or out on trails. There will usually be someone at home with the dogs as Nichole & Peter are self-employed. Friday, Nichole came to Lily’s to complete the adoption paperwork and then picked up Hunter at Gwen’s house and brought him home.
Update: Just a quick note to let you know Hunter has settled in like he’s always been with us. Here are a few of our boy getting comfy in his new home. Thanks for all you do!!

Sammy
Last week, Kim Pipkin called Lily’s wanting to donate items after her 13-year old Labradoodle passed away. As fate would have it, Lily’s had just taken in Sammy, a 13-year old sweet Labradoodle who was recently surrendered by his owners. Learning about Sammy, Kim decided to hold onto her late dog’s items, just in case. Good thing she did - the two have fallen in love and Sammy has found a home! Kim works from home and is looking forward to having dog company again in the house.

Dallas
Her new dad, Tony, previously adopted a Lily’s pup named Max in 2014. Tony took one look at Dallas on the website and was hooked. He met Dallas and took her right home. Tony reports that she is "PERFECT", a great companion for him and his other dog, Sunny. And she’s a big help cleaning up the morsels the chickens leave behind when they are fed. She's a laid back sweet, gentle girl who settled in right away and is making herself right at home.

Val
Josh, owner of K9 Optima, and his wife, Natalie, are official foster failures! Shortly after taking Val into their home to foster, he had Josh and Natalie wrapped around his paws.
Update from Josh: "Without further ado, Val has been an incredible addition to our family. He's already playing a key role in our reactivity training sessions as a support dog and has quickly become the apple of my wife's eye. We are so, so happy to have Val as a forever member of our family!”

Winston
Winston is a 10 year old German Shepherd from the Kern County Shelter. Thanks to Jody's above and beyond efforts he was saved from euthanasia in the nick of time and is now in his forever home in Oregon. Here's his story...
On Feb 25th, Tahara and Hailey, from the Kern County shelter sent Jody Winston's picture and told her his time was running out. On March 2nd, Jody asked them to please extend his stay as she was working on finding him a rescue or a home. Winston was given two more days. Jody texted Josh Beckler, of K9 Optima to see if he would put Winston's story on Tik Tok. He gladly did. Josh created a sweet video and asked for help for Winston. The next day Josh let Jody know there was interest in Winston from people in Oregon. Shyra and her daughter Kim fell in love with Winston after seeing his video on Tik Tok and they wanted to adopt him. They live on 11 acres with two horses, two German Shepherds, a bird, cats and chickens. Jody immediately called Tahara at the shelter and told her NOT to euthanize Winston, Lily's would pull him and he had a home. She arranged transport through No Paws Left Behind. Jody picked him up and they drove together to Klamath, CA to meet up with his adopters. They stayed at a motel for the night and the next day, Shyra and Kim drove 6 hours down from Oregon. The minute Winston saw them his tail started wagging, it was like he knew they were his new family. They spent time together getting acquainted and loving on each other. Around 4:00 Shyra and Kim were ready to go for the long drive home. Winston happily jumped into their car, Jody gave him his lamb chop toy and a blankie for the ride and tearfully kissed him goodbye. Then off he went with his new family to his forever home!
Update: Winston has been doing well in his new home. He is eating, taking his meds and recovering. He sleeps a lot and puts his head on Shyra's feet. He takes walks with Shyra around their beautiful property surrounded by trees. Once he is all well, they will introduce him to their shepherds, Winnie and Ruger.

Sam
Hurrah, Sam is a lucky pup! He was ADOPTED by Bill & Mady, a couple from Petaluma. They lost their last dog in October and were ready to open their hearts and home again to a new companion. When they spotted Sam on our website, they thought he might be just the dog they were looking for and came to meet him. No surprise, Sam was his usual friendly, charming self and quickly stole their hearts. Just to be sure, Bill & Mady went home to think it over. Within a couple of hours, they called to let us know they wanted to adopt Sam.
When Bill & Mady arrived, Sam was out for a walk in the driveway. As soon as he spotted their car, his tail started wagging, he went bounding over to greet them and tried to hop in the front seat with Bill. It was like Sam knew his new family had come to take him home. After the paperwork was taken care of, that’s just what they did!
Update: We made it home safely. Sam was no trouble in the car. He is now checking out all the rooms in the house and marking everything in the yard (he is a male dog after all). This is going to be an easy transition, and he is a perfect fit. Thank you for rescuing him!

Hank
His new mom, Pat lives in Kelseyville in Lake County, has a lovely home with a fenced yard and has had Labs in the past. Our Lake County volunteer, Cathy, did her home visit and she was pre-approved to adopt a Lily's pup. Cathy brought Pat down today to meet Hank and it was love at first sight. After about an hour of hanging out, going for a walk and getting to know each other, Hank hopped in the car and off he went to his new home!!
Update from Cathy: It was a great ride back to Lake County. Hank has charmed Pat. It was so good to hear her laugh at his antics.

Coach
Coach is the 9 year old Shepherd/Malinois who was transported from SoCal on an airplane (hence the name Coach!). He was in-foster with Josh and Natalie (K9Optima.com) until he found his forever home.
Well, that's now happened, Coach has been adopted by Nancy and her husband, Jerry. They live on a 5 acre property outside of Reno NV and have 3 other dogs who took Coach right in. He settled in very quickly and is doing really well. Nancy & Jerry love him to bits and are so happy he is now part of the family.

Woody
It happened quickly last week. Bea and her husband, Paul had seen Woody on our website and were very interested in adopting him. Bea works from home and her mother, Penny, who lives with them, is home most of the time. They've had hounds before and are familiar with their skin issues as well of their drool! It sounded like the perfect home for Woody. Their references and home visit were all good, it was a go.
Bea and Penny came to meet Woody and fell in love. There were smiles all around for the send-off picture and then Woody happily waltzed out the door with his new family!
Update: "Everything’s going well. Woody has settled right in! He did really well on his morning walk as well! We love him! He’s officially the king of the house:) Thanks so much!" ~ Bea

Cowboy (now JoJo)
Cowboy is the 7 year old pup from a Central Valley shelter who was found chained up in his owner’s yard, skin and bones. Fast forward to now, Cowboy is a healthy, happy boy in a loving home with Dr. Patty, the veterinarian who fell in love with him when she cared for him at Fairfax Vet. She took him home for the weekend and the rest is history!
Update: Jojo has very quickly settled into his new home with all of his multi-species family. He has quickly taken to his comfy life of cuddles on the bed and couch, as well as belly rubs on demand. Constantly. We look forward to the future as Jojo continues to open up with time. We really appreciate his love of all people (despite his harsh former life), his love of cuddles, how he’s able to be so active yet settle in for a nap so well, and his dinosaur voice after getting up from a nap. He’s such a cutie, he’s currently squeezed between my husband Aaron and me, running in his sleep while snoring. Also, he’s put on 1 pound of lean muscle and keeps looking better by the day.

Creed, an 8 year old Malamute was recently rescued, in the nick of time, from the Contra Costa Shelter.
After a brief stay in a foster home, he was ADOPTED. His adopter, Dan, owns and runs Planet Pooch Doggie Daycare in Redwood City. Creed (now Guapo) will be living at home with Dan and going to work with him every day.
Update: He’s a VERY good boy! He did great when he was introduced to Rachel and Charlotte, his new canine siblings. They love him already! He slept through the night and is already starting to learn his name.

Canela & Oso
Best news of the week, Canela & Oso have been adopted by Genie & Dave from Santa Rosa. They have had lots of dogs over the years. After their last dog passed, they found themselves with no dogs for the first time in many years! They were looking for a bonded pair and, thankfully spotted Canela & Oso on our website.
When they came to meet the pups, they fell in love. Done deal!
Update: Well, everyone settled in really quickly last night. Oso claimed the couch and was napping within an hour of being here. They are very sweet!
Thank you for all that Lily's does to save these pups. ~ Dave

Reign
Good news, Miss Reign has been ADOPTED. Judi & Dan have adopted seniors in the past and were referred to Lily’s by friends who adopted a yellow lab from us several years ago.
When they came to meet Reign, she was doing a driveway walk to burn off some energy before her meet & greet. As soon as Judi & Dan got out of the car, Reign came right over to greet them with tail wagging and whole body wiggling. No surprise, she immediately found her way into their hearts, they were smitten. After a couple of laps around the driveway, the decision was made, Reign had found her forever family!
Reign's new home is perfect for her. Judi & Dan are retired and home most of the time. She will be their only dog and get all the love and attention she needs. Besides going for walks, she has a nice fenced yard to run around and play.

Sadie
At long last, Sadie has been ADOPTED by her fosters, Sherry & Michael! She is their second Lily’s pup, they adopted Max in May 2022, he passed away last summer.
Over the past 3 weeks, we’ve been “following” Sadie's journey to adoption through Sherry’s Facebook posts. Here are some excerpts…..
Goofy Sadie's personality is coming out. She watches TV. A real watch dog. She watches the neighborhood from the porch. She watches me bake with full curiosity. Not begging. Fascinated. When she arrived, she barked at the art on the walls, was fixated on the animal skull/horns displayed with art and found the rubber chicken to bark at. She keeps looking up at the walls, it’s very funny.
Yesterday, Michael tried to fold up the sofa bed. Sadie got on top of the half-folded sofa and expressed her opinion. It's open for cuddles, she puts her head on our chest and loves to spoon next to us. A different dog from the one we picked up at Lily's Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary weeks ago.
I was taking Sadie out to potty but she ran back to the porch and watched me stand in the rain...okaaay. Back in the house she stopped at her raincoat. A yellow slicker that barely fit 80lbs. Max. She was so pleased I understood. She stands still for all the straps and looks so pleased with herself.
We are so happy Sadie has finally found her forever home. Big thanks and appreciation to Sherry and Michael for their patience and love working with Sadie. She is one lucky girl!

She was so pleased I understood. She stands still for all the straps and looks so pleased with herself.
We are so happy Sadie has finally found her forever home. Big thanks and appreciation to Sherry and Michael for their patience and love working with Sadie. She is one lucky girl!

Remi
More good news, Remi has been ADOPTED by Lisa & Sasun, a couple who are longtime Shepherd Lovers. Their beloved dog passed away last year and they were ready to bring a new pup into their hearts and home. Fortunately for Remi, it’s a small world, they found out about Lily’s through friends who have adopted from us before.
When Lisa & Sasun came to meet our pups, they fell hard for Miss Remi and she to them, it was a good match. Remi is settling into her new life in Santa Rosa, there's someone home with her most of the time.

Sunrise (now Betty)
As we had hoped, Little Miss Sunrise, a ray of sunshine, wasn’t with us for very long, she has been ADOPTED!
Her new mom, Mary, lost her dog, a Pittie mix, last Spring. The timing wasn’t right for her to find a new companion, until recently. Mary lives on a large cattle ranch east of Chico. Her house has a fenced yard and is one of several houses on the family property. Mary is retired, home most of the time and loves to go for walks. She too found out about Lily’s from friends who have adopted a couple of dogs from us.
As soon as Mary spotted Sunrise on our website, she knew she was her girl. Last week, she came with her daughter to meet Sunrise in person. It was mutual love at first sight, they only had eyes for each other! Soon, they were on their way home to start their new life together.

Sweet Pea - our first adoption of 2024!
Happy News....Sweet Pea has officially been ADOPTED by her fosters, Volunteer Catrin and her husband Brad. It's a meant to be, perfect match!
Update: "Sweet Pea has been with us for about a week, other than a couple of nights at the vet for her spay and dental procedures. Her name suits her well. She is super-sweet and has made herself at home. Despite her mobility issues, she has explored every corner of the house and has tested every dog bed, including my little terrier’s beds. My other 2 girls watch her patiently, and since she is good around food and has little interest in their toys, they seem to have already accepted her “moving in” to their space. We’re taking short, slow walks in the neighborhood or the local field, which she seems to enjoy, and then home for a long snooze.
Alice pegged Sweet Pea as a dog that would be a great fit for me and Brad, and once again Alice got it right!!"

Lucky - Our lucky last adoption of 2023!
Our lucky boy, Lucky, is Home for the Holidays with Jackie & David in Napa. They previously adopted Lily's pup, Bailey, in July 2019. Recently, Jackie started volunteering and is our Friday morning feeder.
Jackie & David came with their dog, Luna, to meet Lucky. All went well and they went home to think about it. We were thrilled when we got the news that it was a go!

Greta
Gloria Halleluiah, Greta is ADOPTED and Home for the Holidays! Her new dad, John, is a retired gentleman who contacted us a couple of weeks ago. He is a longtime Lab Lover and was looking for a new companion. Well, when we told him about Greta, he thought she sounded perfect. The fact that she is being treated for Cushing’s Disease did not faze him a bit.
When John came to meet Greta, within about 5, maybe 10 minutes tops, it was a done deal! He loaded Greta into the car and off they went, home to Windsor to start their new life together!

Reign
Following in Greta’s paw-steps, the very next day Reign was ADOPTED and Home for the Holidays. Her new dad, Mike, is retired and has always had Labs. He just recently lost his beloved Lab and was ready to open his heart and home again to a new pup. As soon as he and Reign met, there was an instant connection and it was clearly meant to be. Reign happily hopped in the car and didn't look back as she headed to her new home in Santa Rosa.

Nico
Shortly after Reign was adopted, Jay & Susan came with three grandkids and their senior pup to meet our newest boy, Nico. He is an 8 year old English Lab who is being rehomed due to life changes in his family.
Jay & Susan are retired and live on a country property in Napa. They lost their Lab about a year ago and just recently felt ready to adopt again. The meet and greet went very well, it was a total love fest!
Nico was so good with the kids, they were all over him and he was loving it! In the end, Nico found his new family!

Java
Java is a sweet 12 ½ year old Chocolate Lab whose owner moved into an Assisted Living facility. A niece reached out to us in hopes we could find Java a new home. She has some health issues, lumps and bumps, a thyroid condition and needs a dental. She also has laryngeal paralysis, a condition that causes dysfunction of the larynx. The good news, however, is that Java already has been adopted!
We’d been in touch with Erin, a veterinarian, who was looking for a senior Lab for her parents who live in Novato. Coincidentally, Erin's parents have a 15 ½ year old Lab who also has Laryngeal Paralysis. When Erin came to meet Java, she thought she was the perfect pup for her parents. Adoption done!

Buddy
Can anyone say Foster Failure?
The latest happy, happy update from Buddy’s foster…
“I'm not sure if there could be a more perfect boy than Buddy. When I agreed to foster him, I was excited but had no idea I would instantly fall in love. He has come into my home, bonded with my Doggie Ambassador, Georgie and even made friends with my two cats.
He was understandably sad the first two days, as his human had recently passed away. His human sisters sent one of his Dad's shirts along with him, he buried his face and slept with it the first two days.
He LOVES walks and prances in the hall to let me know he's ready for his stroll. He is such a gentle sweet boy, he immediately took to my two granddaughters, 3 and 5. They both love "Big Doggie Buddy".
Several nights ago he crawled up in my lap while I was sitting in my recliner (definitely not enough room for us both) so I moved to the couch and he curled up in the crook of my knee for a good cuddle. He then proceeded to claim his spot in my bed, so now there are four of us peacefully sharing (Buddy, Georgie, my cat Phoenix and myself).
Buddy is a dream and I feel so very, very lucky he chose me and my pack.”

Kevin (now Remy)
KEVIN has been ADOPTED!
His new family, Hil & Tree, are longtime Lab lovers. Kevin is their third Black Lab from Lily’s, they adopted Cookie in 2011 and Kate in 2016. Kate lived a good long life and passed away over the Summer. For several months, Hil & Tree have been looking for just the right pup to join their family. Well, sweet Kevin turned out to be that just right pup, he’s a perfect fit for them. Hil is retired and Tree works part time. Kevin is starting his new life with a great new name, Remy!
We already have an update: “Not one problem at night. No barking….he is so sweet.”

Milly
All last week, we told Miss Milly that her new family was coming back for her soon. And then, the wait was over when Lynn & Bryan came to take their girl home. When they arrived, Milly was busy making the rounds giving face washes to everyone who was there to say goodbye to her. Milly made sure to give mom & dad face washes too.
After the adoption paperwork and send-off picture were taken care of, it was time to hit the road! Milly happily hopped in the backseat and got buckled in with Lynn right next to her. Then, off they went home to Benicia to start their new life together.
Update: "We added a middle name :) so she is Milly Rayne😊. We are so thrilled to have Milly as part of the family! She is so loving!! She is settling in nicely, learning more about her new home and neighbors on our daily walks."

Hank
As we predicted, Hank was only with us for a short while, he’s already been ADOPTED! His new mom, Mary Lisa, previously adopted Max, a yellow Lab, in November 2019. Sadly, Max recently passed away. Mary Lisa loves Labs and a few days after Hank arrived, she and her dad came to meet him. Hank was his usual lovable self and quickly stole both their hearts.
Thursday, Mary Lisa brought Hank to his new home, a horse ranch on the outskirts of Petaluma. Hank should feel right at home there, he previously lived on a dairy farm. And now he has a wonderful extended family. Mary Lisa has a senior terrier mix and her parents, who also live on the property, have a couple of Labs. Happy days ahead for our boy Hank!

Gemma and Lacy (now Thelma and Louise)
BEST NEWS EVER….Gemma & Lacy have been ADOPTED by Jill & Jeff, a wonderful couple from Lafayette. Jill is a veterinarian and Jeff works from home. They have 2 cats and 1 happens to be named Gemma (what are the odds?!) Sadly, they lost their beloved Standard Poodle earlier this year and have been following Lily's on social media and were drawn to Gemma & Lacy.
When Jill & Jeff saw the girls’ cute faces peering out from the corral, it was love at first sight! The meet & greet went very well, there was an instant connection all around. Lacy had puppy dog eyes for Jeff, Gemma was comfortable and relaxed with both of them. It was a meant to be, perfect match. After goodbye kisses were given and happy tears shed, they loaded the girls in the car and off they went to start their new life!
Update: All is well. They are doing better than expected. They slept through the night and are exploring our yard a little bit more every hour. We have decided that their names are Thelma for the poodle and Louise for the golden. They are both very smitten with Jeff as expected. The cats are doing very well with them and they chased one cat, one time and that was it. I think they are scared of the Maine Coon as he is big and menacing. Thank you again for trusting us with their care. I think they’re perfect for us.
We would like to extend huge thanks and gratitude to Abbie and Marti for providing Gemma & Lacy (and her puppies) a wonderful foster home and taking such good car of them. Being in a home for several months certainly helped prepare the girls to transition into a home of their own.

Ozzy
Ozzy has been ADOPTED! He was surrendered just recently and thankfully, he wasn’t with us for very long. Wendy & Don, long time Shepherd lovers, were looking for a cat friendly pup to join their family. Ozzy checked that box as well as many more! When they came to meet Ozzy, he took to them immediately as they to him. It was a good match. Smiles all around for the send-off picture and then off he went with his new family, home to Napa.
Update: He is settling in getting used to his new life. He doesn’t seem phased by the cat although they aren’t sharing space yet. He’s such a sweet, good boy.

Marcel
Tony & Laurel, longtime “poodle people”, had recently lost their beloved poodle. A friend referred them to our website after seeing Marcel on social media. They called to inquire about Marcel and came to meet him. He was his usual charming self and found his way into their hearts in no time. He gently gave them his paw over and over again, as if to say “please take me home!” That’s just what they did!

Rosie
Rosie, fast-tracked her way out of Lily's in record time. We are happy to say she has been ADOPTED. In her previous life, Rosie lived with 2 children and a cat, however she had to spend a lot of time alone while her human mom and dad worked.
We were hoping to find a family for Rosie who could give her more time and TLC. We were thrilled when her new family called and asked to meet her. Rosie was her sweet, charming self, and won over their hearts!
She will now live her best life ever! Her new home in Rohnert Park includes a family of 4 children, 2 hairless cats, and a mom and dad who ADORE her.
Update from mom Emily: "Rosie is incredible - she's such a great dog, and everything is perfect over here."

Jax (now Dax)
We are excited to share the happy news that Jax (now Dax) has been officially ADOPTED by his foster family, Gary and Suzie. Jax is one lucky boy to have landed in such a wonderful home!
Update: After losing Bea, we knew we needed to fill that void with another dog. Fostering Jax filled that void but also introduced us and our family to a great dog. We’re so happy we fostered him and have now adopted him. He loves his canine sisters, Sadie and Tillie, and is learning his boundaries with his canine cousin Chewy.

Lucy
As we predicted, Lucy wasn’t with us for very long. She has been ADOPTED by longtime Lab lovers, Deidre & Al. They lost their beloved Lab earlier this year and were ready to find a new companion. When they saw Lucy on our Social Media posts, they thought she might be their girl and submitted an application. Their references and virtual home check were taken care of, two paws up.
When they came to meet Lucy, she was her typical effervescent self - her tail wagged wildly and she wore a nonstop smile that, in minutes, sealed the deal. Lucy excitedly went from person to person as if to announce what she already knew - Deidre & Al were taking her home with them. And that’s just what they did.
Update: We want to thank you so much on connecting Lucy with us. She had a great first night. Lots of panting from nerves & broken AC but the AC will get repaired today. She started up on our bed but brought herself back into the living room where we put out 2 dog beds. She’s eating well, met some neighbors and has pottied outside with no problems. We love her!

Millie
Good news, Millie has been ADOPTED! Her new mom, Caroline, is retired and lives in Petaluma. She has had a number of Border Collie/Aussies over the years and loves the breed. When Caroline saw Millie on Social Media, she was drawn to her. She called to see if Millie was available to adopt. Perfect timing, Millie had just been spayed and was good to go.
When Caroline came to meet Millie, it was mutual love at first sight, a perfect match! Smiles all around for the send-off picture. Then, Millie enthusiastically hopped in the car, happy to be going home with her new mom to start their life together.

Max
Keeping his paws crossed, hoping he’d be posted on the Adopted Board soon paid off! Max has been ADOPTED!
His new dad, Geoffrey, recently lost his beloved Aussie. His friends were encouraging him to look for a new companion and suggested he check out Lily’s Legacy. And that's just what he did. He spotted Max and was drawn to his handsome looks and appealing bio. When Geoffrey came to meet Max, Max was being Max, friendly but a bit standoffish. Fortunately, that was not a deterrent for Geoffrey, he “got” Max and felt they were a good match. When Geoffrey came to bring Max home, we're happy to report that Max trotted out the door with his new dad, tail wagging.
It sure looks like Max has hit the Doggie Jackpot! Geoffrey is a retired contractor, lives on a 1½ acre fenced property and has an active lifestyle. Hiking, camping and lots of outdoor adventures will no doubt be a big part of Max’s new life. We are thrilled for Max and know it was well worth the wait to find the perfect home.

Polly (now Molly)
From her new mom and dad: "Molly is settling in to her new forever home. Molly is playful with an occasional zoomie in the backyard. She is silly and loves to lie on her back and wiggle in the cool grass. She also loves her belly rubs. She is completely content to hang out in the backyard with my Mom and Dad and makes the rounds for head and butt scratches at every chance she gets. She is a dream to walk and she only requires a loose leash on her harness to guide her on twice daily walks. Her most challenging situations are street noises on her walks. She gets startled by cars, or the sound of a gate opening or a garbage can being dragged but we are working to desensitize these scenarios. Overall she is doing very well on her walks and is getting familiar with her neighborhood.
She’s completed her vet visits for her dental cleaning and her ear infection is resolved. Best of all we’ve dialed in her diet and exercise routine and her weight is coming down little by little. Molly is still a big girl at 88 lbs but after consulting with the vet her goal is 80-85 lbs and we’re keeping an eye on her progress.
We are so glad Molly is part of our family and we look forward to many years with our sweet Miss Molly."

Patsy (now Penny)
Penny has been in her new home with Donna & Dave for about four weeks now. She’s settled in beautifully and is thriving. As we’d hoped, there is peace and harmony in the household that includes 3 resident cats. Penny is loved and adored by her new family, she has truly landed in just the right home.
Update: It’s pretty much every cat’s dream to have a dog they can push around 😂. One day when we came back from a walk Janie (the tuxedo) who’s the guardian of the door literally wouldn’t let Penny pass and finally Penny nudged her like she was a puppy and Janie looked absolutely scandalized, but she moved.
Penny has been in her new home with Donna & Dave for about four weeks now. She’s settled in beautifully and is thriving. As we’d hoped, there is peace and harmony in the household that includes 3 resident cats. Penny is loved and adored by her new family, she has truly landed in just the right home.

Princess
We couldn't say it any better than Michael, her new dad:
Princess is adapting well to her new life and is the absolute perfect and purest soul. She greets me with a tail wag whenever I get home and loves to follow me around the house. Every night she sleeps on the bed and pushes herself up next to me for cuddle time.
We go everywhere together. She is great in the car and when she goes out in public she always gets stopped by people that tell her how pretty she is. She is the best listener I have met too. If she’s about to get in trouble all I have to say is “Princess” and she turns right back around and minds her manners.
Princess gets along with her new sister, the cat. The cat will sniff her and rub against her and Princess doesn’t mind. ~ Michael

Addie
Good news, Addie has been ADOPTED! Her new mom, Johanna, is a Shepherd lover and fell for sweet Addie the moment she met her. Wednesday, Addie was so excited when Johanna came to bring her home. She happily hopped in the car and off they went to start their new life together.
Update: She is doing really well and settling in nicely! She loves going for walks in the neighborhood park where we have made friends with some dogs we see on the walks. There is a pretty husky/shepherd mix she really likes. Today we met some small children and that went well also. She knows quite many commands and was definitely someone's house dog. I am so blessed! Thank you for saving her!

Truckee
At last, our sweet cuddly boy has found his forever home! His new mom, Debbie, lives in San Rafael on a two-acre estate and Truckee is her third Lily's pup!
Debbie thinks Truckee is absolutely terrific, and we could not agree more! He is such a trooper, a loving and trusting boy, and he wants to be reassured he is home. He's already patrolled the entire property with a calm, slow-paced examination.
We are incredibly grateful to Janice & John for fostering Truckee since mid-April. They showered him with so much love, and he thrived in a home environment. We will all miss this sweet and gentle boy.

Ardie
Great news, Ardie has left the building! His new mom, Heather, and her son Morgan came to take their boy home to San Rafael where he joins his new friend, saucy 5-year old chihuahua mix, Josie Wales.
Ardie has come such a long way since his days in San Francisco. It's hard to believe that just a short time ago, he was a stray. The universe works in magical ways.
Ardie ADORES Morgan, and we are all so grateful to see Ardie thrive in his new home.
Special thanks to Julia for giving some extra TLC and attention to Ardie. What a lucky boy!

Kendall (now Bella)
We are thrilled to share that Kendall (now Bella) is being adopted. Bella has been doing well since joining mom Diana as a foster. As we suspected, Bella has stolen Diana's heart and she has decided to welcome Bella as a permanent resident. Diana will be coming to Lily's in a couple of days to make things "Official"!
We could not be happier for our sweet and gentle girl. She has landed in the best possible home and she will live out her life with nothing but love and devotion.

Pawshko
Great news, Pawshko has been ADOPTED! His new mom, Caitlin, is a third-time Lily’s adopter. Her first was Gizmo in May 2018 and then Molly in January of this year. Caitlin likes having 2 dogs and was waiting for the right one to come along. Caitlin came to meet Pawshko and really liked him, but before making the decision to adopt him, she needed Molly’s approval. Caitlin and her sister brought Pawshko to her home to meet Molly. Thankfully, the meet & greet went off without a hitch, the adoption was a go and Pawshko stayed.
Update: Pawshko is settling in well, and he's my new buddy. He reminds me so much of Gizmo (my protector) - definitely my shadow, and his presence makes me feel safe, especially when the kiddos are at the house. I'm working to get photos of him with the babies. They were so excited when they met him, and he did great!
Looks like I've scored another winner ;) ~ Caitlin

Megan (now Ginger)
About a year ago, Kathy’s beloved dog passed away and she just recently felt ready to open her heart again. When Kathy spotted Megan on our website, she knew she was the one! When she came to meet Megan and was smitten from the minute she laid eyes on her! They spent time together in our corral and while Kathy filled out the adoption application, Megan curled up on a bed and patiently waited. After the paperwork was taken care of, Kathy said she felt like a “kid in a candy store”, so excited that Megan (now Ginger) was truly hers! As you can see, Megan was pretty happy too! She hopped right in the car and off they went to start their new life together.

Moose
Yes, there has been another "Lily’s Miracle", Moose has been ADOPTED! Here's how it happened....
Several weeks ago, we got a call from Skorpiaa, a woman in Oregon. She had “followed” Moose on Social Media for some time and finally decided to make the call to find out if Moose was still available and would we consider adopting him out-of-state. The resounding answer was “Yes and Yes (to the right home)". Skorpiaa’s application, references and virtual home visit all checked out great, it sounded like an ideal placement for Moose. Skorpiaa and her husband, Lazaro live on a 15 acre fenced property with their two “kids”, Kaala and Kamyle, 2 ½ year old GSD/Malamute sisters. There was room for one more, Moose!
An ETA date and transport details were worked out. April 8 was the BIG DAY we’ve all been waiting for! Skorpiaa and Lazaro flew down from OR to Santa Rosa, rented a car and came straight to the Sanctuary. They couldn’t have been more excited to meet Moose. They brought his custom backpack full of goodies, including a custom scarf, harness, travel bowls, leash, etc. It was great to see Moose so relaxed and happy with them. He jumped in the back of the car without hesitation, lied down and looked like he was ready to hit the road and start his new life. Moose has truly hit the jackpot with his new family!
Update Day 1: Mr. Moose is doing well. It was a very long drive home, so we are all relaxing today. We did Easter baskets this morning. He loves his bed.

Peaches
Peaches' new family, Ken & Georgia, have been patiently waiting for her to fully heal from spay surgery, so they could bring her home.
They were so happy the wait was finally over. Needless to say, Peaches was pretty happy too! The smiles all around for the send-off picture says it all.

Fuji and Mocha - a Heartwarming Two-fer Adoption!
Once again, Lily has worked her magic and given us the "Lily's Miracle" we’ve all been waiting for…..Fuji & Mocha have been ADOPTED, together! Their new people, Kathleen & Frank, are long-time Shepherd lovers. They have a lovely home with a large fenced yard and are retired. Their last GSD was Lady, a Lily’s pup, they adopted in November 2017. They had wanted to adopt a second GSD but Lady clearly preferred to be an “only” so that’s what she was. She was dearly loved and just recently passed away. Since Lady’s passing, Kathleen & Frank have been looking for a pair of bonded Shepherds. Glory Halleluiah, Fuji & Mocha were just the pair they were looking for!
Kathleen & Frank came to meet them to see if they were a good match. All went well, Mocha was her usual charming self and even sometimes timid Fuji came out of his shell and enjoyed visiting with his soon-to-be new people. Not wanting to jinx it, the volunteers inconspicuously watched the momentous meet & greet from the sidelines, with paws firmly crossed. When we heard it was a GO, we were overjoyed! It was the "Lily’s Miracle" we’d all been waiting for, Fuji & Mocha had finally found their forever home!
The next day, Fuji & Mocha had their bags all packed, ready to go when Kathleen & Frank came for them. After the paperwork was done, send-off pictures taken and tearful goodbyes said, it was time to hit the road. Getting them in the car went surprisingly well, it was a team effort. Frank got Fuji in first and then Mocha. We waved goodbye and off they went to their new home! We're looking forward to updates with paws crossed!

Kodi
Kodi has found his furever home with Don, a gentleman from Bodega Bay. His last dog had passed away a few months ago and he was looking for a new companion. He was so happy to learn about Kodi and came right over to meet him. All went well, Kodi was his usual easy-going self, they were a good match.
On adoption day, Kodi had his bags all packed and was ready to go when Don came to take him home. He loaded Kodi in the car, posed for a quick send-off picture and then off they went to start their new life together.

Gozer
Miss Gozer has been ADOPTED! She had several potential adopters interested in taking her home, but the best match was with Diane, a long-time dog lover from Healdsburg. She spotted Gozer on our website and came to meet her. All went well, it was a mutual good match. The home check still needed to be done, volunteer Drew offered to do it in-person. He gave Diane and her home two thumbs up! Last step was for Gozer to meet Diane’s senior pup, Finn. She brought him to Lily’s and as we’d hoped, they were good together. Gozer was off to her new home!

Brownie
Our boy Brownie has been ADOPTED! Kelly & Kyle and their daughter first met Brownie shortly after he arrived. They knew right away Brownie was the “family dog” they were looking for, he checked all the boxes and then some. Most importantly, they saw how good he was with their daughter. She tossed the ball with a Chuck-it and he brought it back to her again and again.
The family came back for another visit. This time, they brought with them their 12 year old Corgi, Piper. The dogs were great together; the last box was “checked”, the adoption was a go!
Brownie perked right up when his family came through the door. He was so excited and jumped up on the couch for the send-off picture and off they went home to Occidental.

Bear
Bear has been officially ADOPTED by his foster family, Rebecca & Elizabeth. Here is Elizabeth's write-up...
Being able to write one of these is a dream come true! I’ve always wanted to adopt a senior dog, and with Bear it’s so rewarding. Bear is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. He is full of charm and makes friends everywhere he goes. Bear loves to lounge on the couch indoors and outdoors. He’s been going with us everywhere, and his favorite activities are lounging on the couch, taking walks in downtown Benicia, and being loved on and pet by his humans. He hops when it’s time for breakfast or dinner, and only barks when he’s excited to see you or needs to communicate something important. His hair is growing back in small tufts, and his toothless grin is one of his most endearing qualities.
We are so lucky to have found sweet Bear, AKA Bear Boy, Buddy Bear, or “Beh” as our 13 month old calls him. ❤️

Benson
We met Benson, a 10 year old Standard Poodle, last month. His owner passed away and his son, Justin, had taken him in. He brought Benson to Lily’s in hopes that we could help find him a new home. We knew just the right family for Benson, they had adopted Amy, a Standard Poodle, from us in 2016. It all worked out and Benson had a home to go to.
Update: Benson is settling in (note the ball in his mouth!) and getting along great with his canine sister, Millie, who is also a Standard Poodle.

Katie
We didn’t think Miss Katie would be with us for very long and we were right, she's already been ADOPTED!
Debbie & Ray, a couple from Brentwood came with their 4 year old Golden, Lucy, to meet Katie. At first Katie was a little unsure about Lucy, but they worked it out and were fine together. Debbie & Ray have great dog experience and will provide a loving home for Katie. Dave is retired and home most of the time and Katie will have a canine sibling to play with. The send-off went well, Katie hopped in the car and off she went to start her new life. We will miss Katie, she’s a very special girl!

Bea
Bea, an eleven year old English Cream Golden, fast-tracked through Lily’s in record time. Bea was owner surrendered because they could no longer care for her. Bea was then ADOPTED by one of our own, volunteer Gary and his wife, Suzie.
Once again timing was everything….
Gary arrived for his afternoon shift. Everyone was talking about what a great dog Bea was, beautiful and sweet. Gary was all ears because Suzie has always wanted an English Cream Golden and Bea sounded perfect! Gary let Alice know he was very interested in Bea. Fast forward a few days, as soon as Gary and Suzie laid eyes on Bea, it was love at first sight! Later that day they brought their 2 senior pups, Tillie (Golden) & Sadie (terrier mix) to meet Bea. Everything went smoothly, Tillie & Sadie were friendly and accepting of Bea, it was a done deal. Smiles all around for the send-off picture, then off they went (in 2 vehicles) to their home in Petaluma. We’re so happy for Bea, she’s landed with a great family!

Pookah
Miss Pookah has been officially ADOPTED. On adoption day, Pookah perched herself on the couch with her Happy Adoption Day stuffy and kept an eye out for Maggie & Gary to come through the door. Well, as soon as their car pulled up, Pookah sounded the alarm to let everyone know her family had arrived. She patiently waited while the paperwork was taken care of, send-off pictures taken and goodbye kisses given & received. Then she happily hopped in the back seat with Gary and off she went to start her new life. It was indeed bittersweet for all of us, Pookah will be missed!
Update: Pookah is settling in well. She is enjoying her morning and afternoon walks and sleeping thru the night... and naps too. She likes sitting on the back porch and surveying her backyard. Yesterday, she took herself to the top of the hill to see what's up there. When we are out and about, I do see her looking at people who come by. I think she might be looking for all her Lily's angels. I know she carries you in her heart. Thankfully, she has a big heart and is adding Gary and me too! Thanks Julia for all you did to help with the transition. Pookah thanks you too💛!

We knew RJ wouldn't be with us for very long and we were right, just one week!
His new mom, Sue, has been searching for a Golden or Golden mix, for months. As soon as she spotted RJ on our website, she knew he was her dog. Saturday, when she came to meet him, they hit it off right away, it was a perfect match. RJ hopped right into Sue’s car, settled in and didn’t even look back as they headed for home!

Tahoe
Hurrah, Tahoe is no longer a Foster-to-Adopt pup, he’s been ADOPTED!
When we reached out to Leslie & Grant to see how things were going, we were thrilled to hear they definitely wanted to make their home his forever home. Tahoe has been such a good boy, he's fit well with them and they love him to bits.

Monty
Monty has been Adopted! His new mom, Dominique, has had a Boxer and loves the breed, especially seniors. She came with her 6 ½ year old coco Lab, Rex, to meet Monty. The meet and greet couldn’t have gone better, Monty and Rex hit it off right away. They sniffed each other all over, took a loop around the driveway and then headed to the corral. They immediately started “play bowing”, doing zoomies and had a great time playing. It was clearly a perfect match all around!
Update: Monty is loving his new home. He and Rex are great together. We’re in love with him. We’ll keep you updated. Thanks so much♥️🐶♥️

Molly - our first adoption of 2023!
Good Golly, Miss Molly has been ADOPTED! Her new mom, Caitlin, previously adopted Lily’s pup, Gizmo, in May 2018. He lived a good long life and recently passed away at the age of 14. Caitlin met Molly back in November when she first arrived, but the timing wasn’t quite right to bring her home. Today it was, Caitlin came to take Molly home. Molly was so excited to see her, it was like she knew Caitlin was her new mom and was “all over her” as only Molly can! She hopped in the car and headed, just down the road, to her new home in Penngrove.
We will miss sweet Molly, but are overjoyed she has found her forever family and has a second chance at a good life. Caitlin works from home, has two young children and family nearby so Molly will have company most of the time. She’s one lucky girl!
